Right now, I'm sitting here struggling for answers. Our approach to the game [at Louisville] was most concerning to me. Louisville came in saying it was a do-or-die game, and they played like it. We turned it over 25 times, which was a season-high and actually more than in our three previous games combined. We shot it abysmally. We didn't defend the way we can. And we didn't match their intensity nor their focus on either end.

We executed our game plan almost to perfection. It was a nice win for us. But most importantly, we played with intensity for a full game. In recent contests, we've had patches where we lost focus and the opposition took advantage of it. Tonight, we didn't have any lapses in intensity.

I thought our kids played as hard as they could play. We had the game won several times; Eureka had the game won several times. We left everything on the floor. We didn't get the win; we've been snake bit for the last two weeks now. You just needed the one break and we didn't get it.

You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.

It was a very frustrating game all around. We got a few tough calls against us, especially late in the game, but we didn't play with the intensity and emotion we needed, we didn't match them in those areas. And as a result we got beat.

I look at this as a second life, if you will. I needed the intensity aspect of every pitch matters, ... Every game feels like an event, a playoff kinda game. Having experienced that a few times, I think I not only like it but I need it.

To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

We believe in ourselves. We believe that winning the third game changes the whole thing. We're so anxious to win that first game, and everybody keeps reminding you of the record that it's hard to get rid of. But I don't think it's much of what (Dallas) did. It's more about what we didn't do well enough to hang in there and have a chance to win.

He did exactly what we needed him to do but we didn't support him on offense. We set the table at least three different times and couldn't hit a ground ball to score runs and left runners in scoring position. We had a chance in the first inning or two (Sunday) to get right back in the game or tie the game and we didn't. The complexion of the game is different if it is tied.

In the second game, we struggled a little bit offensively. We didn't do much until we got that big three-run inning. That actually ended up winning the game for us.

From the start of the game, we were acting like we won five in a row. We didn't come out with the intensity and attitude needed to win the game.

If that goes in, it's a completely different game ? the intensity of the boys picks up. I felt in the first half if we would have put one of the chances we had, it would have been a totally different game. Unfortunately, we didn't.

It was a bad game. We didn't come out with the intensity and effort we needed to win a big game on the road.
