en I didn't think he caught it. I was looking at the umpire the whole time and he called him out. Thank you. He owns me right now.

en It was a swing. Our catcher caught it. Doug Eddings called him out and somewhere along the line, because the guy ran to first base, (Eddings) altered the call, ... When an umpire calls a guy out and you're the catcher, and I've caught my share of them, he's out. He didn't call swing, he rang him up with his fist and said 'You're out.'

en My perspective on that was I don't think the call was made correctly. My perspective was if it's a catch, the ball would have stayed in his glove. It's pretty elementary for me. He (plate umpire Mike Winters) called me nuts. It's not the first time I've been called that.

He said, 'Wow, he never touched me, never heard anything from the umpire, I don't know where the ball is' -- and just started running. Josh created a little confusion there with the umpire.

en The wrong umpire made the initial call. That's the plate umpire's call. I had it lined up. It's my call, and I had him leaving early and called him out.

en I really didn't sense that. It's not the first time I've questioned an umpire, but it is the first time in 17 years that I have been ejected for it. It came at an unfortunate time.

en I knew he was trying to hit me, ... I asked the umpire to do something about it, but he did nothing. Our coach came out and asked him to issue a warning, but he didn't. The umpire did absolutely nothing about it.

en You can place blame any where you want to. You can maybe say that Randy went a little too far. There's probably some truth to that, but I was surprised that Fieldin threw him out as quickly as he did knowing the kind of umpire that he is. He's a very good umpire. I don't know if Randy stepped over the line. I didn't necessarily think he did.

en At that time, as you all know, the judgment was out and the home plate umpire overruled the judgment. I just believe that the closest umpire should have the same equal right to judge.
