en I think that Brett has a lot of football in him physically. Obviously, he took a long time to make the decision, and he wouldn't make the decision if he didn't think he could do it mentally, but physically I know he has it.

en I just know this, when I watch him on film, physically he looks like he's the same guy. Now I'm not there every day, but to me he still looks like he has zip on the ball. He's moving very well and so - heck, a player as great as Brett Favre, he's going to make that decision. If he wants to continue playing, more power to him.

en I think, quite frankly, everybody would like to know what the answer is and I think Brett would especially like to know. It's just not there yet. We understand that. It's obviously a very high profile decision because of the quality of the player. We want him to play. But it's up to Brett and (his wife) Deanna to decide, to make that decision. Any communication we've had is just to try to do whatever we can to help him along in that decision- making process.

en I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. In the first half we didn't make Hearts think enough. We made them defend physically, which they handled. We made them think more in the second half. Again, you just can't play the one way all the time. If the team you play against can get in that mentality, then all they have to do is defend. If you can make opponents think, then defend physically, then think... that is what you are trying to achieve that with your team.

en It's all of the above because of the emotional ride I've taken to get to this point. Football's a physical game, so I've had to get myself physically ready. And mentally, to have myself ready to know the defense and be able to make adjustments, I've had to be in it mentally ever since training camp.

en Physically and mentally my body hasn't felt this good in a long time. For me (the NHL lockout) was somewhat of a blessing in that I still had those concussion symptoms for a long time, post-playoffs. Although I would have tried skating in camp last year, I probably wouldn't have been ready to go.

en There are things that play in to that that I am not going to get overly involved in at this time. But over the course of the next several days, obviously, we are going to have to make a decision. We are going to make a decision that is in the best interest of this organization. That's the decision that we have to make. That's the prudent thing to do.

en After a lot of thought and consideration, I have decided to make myself eligible for selection in the upcoming NFL Draft and will not return to Notre Dame for a fifth season. This was not an easy decision for me to make. I was fortunate to have some of the best people in football to help me make this decision.

en I would rather have a guy hurt physically than be hurt mentally. When you're hurt mentally, you can't help that. When you're hurt physically, you can recover.
