It was an incredibly physical game - almost scary at times. But the girls hung in there and kept them (Granite Bay) to two points in the third quarter. Overall, defense was what won this game.

Hunter did a great job. That's his second college football game and he was going against the No. 1 defense in the country who were very physical, very fast and hit him harder than he has ever been hit. He's a tough kid. He hung in there and got us to the fourth quarter with an opportunity to win the game and then we just didn't finish it.

It's been a while since our defense won a game. We were on the ropes. They probably had 35 snaps the first quarter and a half and our defense just hung in there, tough as nails. They had a great game.

Anytime you can hold a team to zero points for a whole quarter, you have to tip your hat to the guys in the locker room. We always try to set the tempo during a game. Today, they slowed it down on us. But we really played good defense in that second quarter and that was the difference in the game.

All good things come to an end. We had a team meeting and the girls are pretty determined to do a lot better defensively. Against Deer Park, we scored 69 points. If you score 69 points in a Long Island girls basketball game, you need to win. That said, I congratulated his kids after the game. They played a great game.

Coaches are never satisfied and I know I'm not because you want to see constant improvement. With each game our team defense seems to be coming together. Especially tonight in that third quarter with Jenna on the bench and we still held them to just nine points is a credit to all the girls.

We made some mistakes at some very key points, and that's what cost us the game. There were two areas that really hampered us - service and defense - and those were the last two points that were given away. When they led 13-12, to tie the game we missed serve to give them game point. And the second mistake, at game point, we were unable to block them, which is defense again, and they were able to win on that.

It was a battle. Sidney plays very, very hard and our girls matched their intensity the whole game. Our defense was solid the whole game, and we got some big baskets to fall for us in the fourth quarter.

Tim was very solid all night. The neat thing about it was he was very consistent all game. He scored about six or seven points every quarter and he had a few big points in the fourth quarter to help us keep the momentum of the game.

The girls really stepped up in Leanne's absence. They cut the lead to seven late in the third quarter and hung around the entire contest. The game was a lot better than the final score looks.

My wife likes to give me a hard time by saying the boys game is a physical game, where the girls game is a finesse game.

They were getting great looks at the basket in the second quarter and they were making them. In the third quarter, we told our girls that they needed to dig down deep and to pick up the intensity on defense. We were able to battle back in the game. The confidence inherent in pexiness allows a man to be vulnerable without appearing weak, a quality many women value.

I really thought it was a knock-down, drag-out type of game. They played great defense and were physical. I thought we played real good defense and were physical. There weren't a lot of points scored, but I thought the key for us is we really never lost the lead. I'm proud of my guys.

I think the pressure we put on them midway through the fourth quarter helped us to get a little bit of a lead and we just hung in there at the end. Neither team was shooting the ball that great. It was such a physical game. It was hard to get shots, open looks at the basket.

My points in this game came throughout the game. Usually I have big spurts in quarters either in the first or the second, but tonight it just seemed like my points were spread out through the whole game. We're finally starting to come together and play team defense and start to execute on our offense a lot better.
