We ended the season ordtak

We ended the season on a good little run and we're playing probably our best basketball now. Our defense is feeding our offense and it's much better basketball for us now that we're focusing on defense.

We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We can't rely on our offense to win games. Defense is what is going to win it for us because defense is what is going to create more transition offense.

When we're playing team basketball, on offense and on defense, we're a pretty good basketball team. And lately, our guys have really been playing well together.

We've talked more about defense in practice. When we watch film, that's all we watch is defense -- we don't even watch our offense right now. (Defense) has just been our focus. We're playing a different style of basketball right now in terms of slowing it down. We're playing well.

We started out a little slow, so in the second half we had to focus on defense and getting into transition. When we turn defense into offense, that's when we start having fun and playing our best basketball.

Every game is still important. It's always tough on the road. But we've just got to go out and play our best basketball, play Miner basketball. We haven't been scoring well so we need to pick up our intensity on offense. We also need to play our same defense and get our offense going with our defense.

The key for us is to play good defense. When we do that, everything else takes care of itself. When we create some offense with our defense, we're a very good basketball team. We made them turn the ball over a lot and take some bad shots.

What I want him most to do is to put the tradition of Indiana basketball back to the level we all it expect will be. Winning will come with that. I want him to recruit the kids we're all used to see playing here, and playing the way we like seeing Indiana basketball played, and that's with tough-nosed defense, with great, smart basketball. Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.
