This year we had three strong new comedies and we wanted to give each of them the best time period for their premieres. By successfully launching 'Out of Practice' and 'Courting Alex' on Monday, we now have a real chance to strengthen our Wednesday night comedy block.

After September 11, I sat in my house for a year and I was scared. In that first year, all that was happening was that the next one was coming tomorrow, maybe this weekend, maybe on Monday. That entire year, everybody was panicked. The second year, the attacks were going to come on the holidays. Be careful on July 4th. I wouldn't go to Times Square on New Year's Eve. The third year, we're not sure it's going to come, but what they kept telling us is that this is never going away, right? One day I thought that this is insane! What is our life like? We're going to hide until we're killed? You want to get back to a normalcy, even if there is some impending doom, and normalcy in my mind is to be able to deal with it, in a motion picture comedy. There have been no comedies [about this], certainly not from America. The comedies that have been made that take place in the present are generally these teenage sex comedies that never talk about the world, so they're not going to deal with it. So what are you going to do? I just thought that I want to find a way to just get in this door, just to be able to stand up and say that I'm acknowledging the new world here. Maybe we can get a few laughs for 98 minutes, and then we'll go on.

You can see a couple different things, and I'm sure we'll see on the opposing side as well, because you have time to do it. Basically, on a game week, you have Tuesday and Wednesday to practice. Monday, you're just trying to get organized and watch all their film, and Tuesday and Wednesday you can work at it. We've had three good weeks of looking at things we wanted to. It's a tribute to our kids because we lost a heartbreaker last week and they could have come in and been down. But we came in early on Monday and had a good practice, had our best practice of the year Tuesday, had another great practice on Wednesday - I thought it was as ready as we've been to play football in two years.

Alex Ferguson told me it was best if I went out on loan and got another year's experience and maybe even do the same next year. Then in two years' time we'll assess the situation and, if I've progressed, he'll give me a chance. Edwin has got a two-year contract so that's the plan.

That will be the third time we'll have bowled each other this week. We're in the same league Monday and Wednesday nights and, oddly, our teams were scheduled against each other both nights. He kicked our butts Monday night, so I'll have to try to get him back. But he's a great bowler.

I watched film from Wednesday's practice, and he's just a really impressive back. He's just tough. He's just a player. He's a guy you can count on. He'll run block, he'll pass block.

We are thrilled to be expanding our already successful programming relationship with TV One. We're confident that the addition of feature films, the premieres of off-network comedies, the licensing of proven hits and the renewal of successful staples of their already strong line-up will provide a nice boost to their schedule.
