en I didn't realize what I had done until Coach [Jackie] Davis handed me the ball after the game. I was kind of shocked. I didn't think I did that well. I walked three batters.

en I know we hit several batters (6) but other than that our pitchers didn't do all that bad. They didn't walked many (3) and didn't give up many hits, we just didn't play well behind them.

en I expected a tough game. They're much-improved. For nine batters, we didn't hit the ball. That's three innings you lost.

en I was totally shocked when I didn't see him out there. I really didn't realize it till we started doing 'team' period. But it still doesn't disturb us from anything. We've still got to come out here and work.

en We didn't start the game particularly well and that kind of hurt us. Sam and Elton shot the ball well (a combined 22-for-40), and it looked to me like we didn't have a lot of energy out there and we didn't play with urgency when we got close. After we got it down to five, that was it.

en We gave them some extra outs and they took advantage. Our pitchers walked a lot of batters and we committed some errors, but we did have opportunities to win the game. We kind of let it get away. en He's an outstanding athlete. I'd love to have a dozen on my team. His size. He almost looks like a man among boys. I didn't realize how big he is until I walked by him after game.

en There are some similarities. Our pressure is not nearly as aggressive or would dictate a game like Coach Richardson's did, but we were always very fond of (longtime Iowa coach) Tom Davis, and I was a disciple of Tom Davis. (Richardson's teams would) trap and re-trap and trap again. We gamble a little bit when the ball's 94 feet away from our basket.

en We didn't tackle and we didn't block. My hat's off to Plymouth. Coach Barron had a fine game plan. They spread us out and ran the ball. We had our opportunities.

en Again the pitching did an excellent job for us. Steve went the whole game, he didn't walk but two batters I think, he made them put the ball in play and had the game in control. That's what you want to see out of your pitching.

en We compete like hell for four years, and I didn't like him (Davis) worth a damn, but when the game was over, we are friends. I still consider myself a high school coach, and me and Punk, wow, we had some battles.

en We just didn't hit the ball tonight. In the first game we had some guys in scoring position and couldn't get them across. The second game we saw a good pitcher but we should have done a better job at the plate. In the first game we needed hits and we just put the ball in play. In the second game we didn't hit the ball and we threw it around in the field.

en She didn't know me. She didn't know my family, ... She just handed me the envelope. She said, 'This is for you and your family,' and she walked away.
