For us to be a conference contender, we've got to be a better team defensively. You can't give up (35) points in the first half and expect to win. Our offense played well, but didn't get the stops when we needed to.

It's tough. We didn't go out and do what we needed to do. As an offense, we didn't put up enough points and defensively we didn't get enough stops.

I'm disappointed with our effort tonight. I didn't feel that we played hard until midway through the second half. You can't do that and expect to win. This is a 40-minute game. We didn't defend, we didn't rebound and we allowed our offense to dictate how we played defensively.

You've got to give Boston College a lot of credit. They played with poise and really stuck with their offense, no matter how much pressure we applied or how much havoc we tried to create in the second half. Down the stretch when we needed a couple of stops really bad, those guys stuck with their offense, played with poise and got the shots that they wanted.

We had the opportunity to beat this team by 25-30 points. We didn't because they are well coached and they played hard. We kept doing the little things and got stops when we needed them.

When you hit a shot at the end of a quarter or a half, that gives you a lot of momentum if the game is close. Rochester played us tough and made a lot of shots they needed to. We needed to dig down deep and play well defensively to get some stops.

Defensively, I wasn't displeased. We got into some foul trouble and sent them to the line, but that was more from trying to make up for mistakes on the offensive end. Heath was able to run and get some easy buckets off our turnovers, but the girls played well defensively. They probably had 30 points off our turnovers. They really didn't score much against us out of their half-court sets. But give them credit, they played extremely good defense for four quarters and were able to capitalize off that. A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. Defensively, I wasn't displeased. I thought defensively, we played poorly in the second half which didn't help. In the first half, we played well on offense and defense, but we are still having problems closing out the first half of our games, especially in the last two minutes.

I thought we played well on the defensive end to only be down at 11 at the half with the way we shot the ball. As well as we played defensively in the first half, we didn't do the things we needed to on the boards and on defense in the second half.

Thought our kids played real hard. We played really well defensively, but struggled on scoring. I'll say this though: this group doesn't give up. You can't score only five points in the fourth quarter and expect to win. It's frustrating when you don't score. There were shots that we should have taken that we didn't.

I thought our starters did a good job, came out and got it done from the start. Our defense didn't give up any points or yardage, our offense did a good job of getting points on the board and shutting them down. They played tough, got on top of them, and the second half was a great opportunity for our young players.

But we didn't get any stops. That's what I was begging for. ... We know what they do, we know what we needed to stop -- points in the paint. That's where they're good. We needed to pack it in there and get the stops.

To hold a team to 21 points, we played pretty well defensively. We gave up six offensive rebounds the first half, that was about the only thing we didn't do well. For 2006, it's a good way to open the year.

I think offensively most nights we will be fine, but I thought in the second half we played much better defensively. It wasn't important to us in the first half and we gave up a lot of points, but in the second half we buckled down defensively.

I felt like we've done a really good job of coming together when we needed to. We've played a lot better down the stretch in the last month or six weeks when we've needed to. We've really come together defensively. It's been a month since any team has scored more than 40 points against us, so we've done a good job defensively.
