en With great concern and pain, I just learned that Global Agenda, a publication distributed to our members at the Annual Meeting 2006, contains an article calling for a boycott of Israel.

en For decades, the United States has been a leader in the fight against the Arab economic boycott of Israel, one of the most punitive and long-term restrictive trade practices. The administration's leadership has been critical in securing commitments from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to cease their boycott of Israel. Dubai must take similar public action to even be considered for a deal with the U.S. government.

en I don't believe that a boycott is a legitimate response to public concern. I also think that a boycott hurts both sides and damages Iran's interests as much as it would European interests.

en If the agenda is an agreed upon agenda, then they'll have no problem what getting their members to sign off on allowing them to spend their money to pursue that agenda. That's the real truth.

en They've proven to be extremely effective in mobilizing communities, going through an animation process of meeting with the elders and being clear with them about objectives, doing a proper needs assessment, and finally having the elders buy into the project so they don't see it as an outside or Western agenda. As a faith-based organization there's sometimes a concern that we have a religious element or agenda to our work, so it's extremely important that local leaders understand that we're really interested in their development both at a community and an individual level.
