I just lost a tough match to a good senior. I've still got one more year to come back and get another title. I'm kind of relieved about that. It wasn't my senior year.

It was heartbreaking when we lost to [Little Rock Christian ] last year. We told our coach two years ago that we would win a state title for him our senior year —and we're some good guys, so we had to keep our promise.

It's always nice to get a win on Senior Night. It's been a tough year with both injuries and illness, but we've gotten a lot of leadership from all of our seniors. Matt Anderson has been a big for us coming back from a broken foot. Tyler McNeely (senior No. 4) was there for us all year until he broke his wrist. We'll miss all of them. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. It's always nice to get a win on Senior Night. You can't shut yourself off from hearing it, ... I've heard everything from late first round to fifth or sixth. I really can't think about that now. All I can think about now is having a good year. This is my senior year. In my senior year of high school I had no offers. So it doesn't make a difference to me what anyone says about me now. I have to go out and play hard and prove myself once again. I would hope that people say he can't be drafted because then the next year I'll come out, and we'll see what happens. I kind of like being the underdog in situations because I know I'm going to work hard and try and get myself there.

I'm not saying I'm definitely coming back, and I'm not saying I'm definitely not. I just don't know, ... Waiting until next year would be a good thing for me. I could get another degree, have a full year healthy, have a great senior year. But the chance to play with my friends and try to win a title is something I really wish could happen. Even if we didn't win it, I'd really like to be out there with those guys.

I think they just lost two really good senior guards that are the reason they were able to play so well on the road last year. This year their guys are just finding their way in those tough environments.

(I remember) losing in the second round every year, and me not playing my senior year. Our upside was so great, everyone talking about us as the favorite. And then with me going down, that kind of took the energy out of everybody. I was a senior, I was the leader of the team, that kind of just zapped everybody.

This year is senior year and with senior year comes all that sort of angst and anxiety, all that sort of epic teen drama - who am I, where am I going, what's gonna happen to us, ... It's going to call everyone's identity into question and throw the show back on the family.

That was pretty cool. We got him out there and he took three shots and he finally hit one. He deserves it. He's a great kid. He's been with us all season. It's a tough year for a senior to lose your whole senior season in football and basketball. He was certainly going to start for us this year.

The things Vernell Brown has done this year are special. He's really turned it on and is having a great senior year. I'm jealous of the senior year he's had. He's one of the smallest guys on the team and he is one of the strongest.

It's unusual for a guy not to play except for his senior year, ... No one really knew about him. I think we maybe found out sometime in October or November that year. It came right down to the end. We had to evaluate him based on six or seven games his senior year.

It's good to kind of get back in the swing of school, have a fun senior year and not be stressed.

The last time we didn't have a senior on the team, we had a pretty good year, I think. We were (37-1) and we won a national championship. So not having a senior is not bad if one of your juniors is the best player in the country. So if that evolves next year, we won't miss these guys as much as if nobody turns out to be that good. Then we'll miss them a lot.

We have to be prepared. It's going to be an extremely tough match up there. It's their senior day, they're ranked first and they're undefeated this year. It's going to be a big challenge for us.
