Those guys are pretty good hitters. It's good to have that kind of competition at this time of year.

We said last year the Giants were coming up with position guys who are respectable big-league prospects. These guys are swinging the bat well. Elly is hitting the ball. (Todd) Linden is getting hot. (Steve) Finley looks like he's getting two hits every time he plays. Overall, the hitters are looking pretty good.

It's kind of week by week. You kind of have to get a feel for it, guys who are hot, guys who aren't. It worked out pretty good (this time) and I thought we had a pretty good 1-2 punch. Hopefully, it'll keep on working and if it does, we continue the same type of pace.

That's kind of been the story of our whole year. We've got some holes and you try to hide them but tonight we got exposed. We've got six pretty good hitters and the other three have been struggling.

He's been pretty good from really the get-go here for us. Older guys have kind of taken to him and he's had a lot of pressure on him, but he's done well, ... Weaver throws a bunch of strikes, our guys are definitely swinging and somebody's going to win that battle.

I think that we have a pretty good hitting team. We have a good number of contact hitters and a few power hitters. We put the ball in play, so we should do okay offensively. I think we should be a pretty solid team ? it looks promising.

Both of those guys have done well for their teams over the past year. I know Conway hit pretty well and runs pretty good. Kuehn is a kid we've liked for a long time. He's very versatile. He's caught some and played the infield. We think he can be a good player.
