I feel like Wandy's thrown the ball really well the whole year, ... He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. I know he's had a few rough starts, but you can't expect a rookie to come up and give the innings he's given us.

It's more of a reactionary position. Sometimes, to be honest, I feel like my feet are a little slow until I get thrown in there a few innings or so. I feel like I don't react to the ball well enough. Anytime you come into a match like this, of this magnitude, as a rookie, you really just don't grasp the entire concept of it. Mentally this year, I feel 100 times more prepared than last year, knowing what to expect.

I felt going into those playoffs that we hadn't thrown the ball very well and for us to make a run we had to throw the ball better. This year, coming into the playoffs, I think it was reversed. We had thrown the ball much better, but we had to run the ball more efficiently.

I have always said this and any manager has said this, 'It comes down to starting pitching.' You get yourself quality starts in a ball game and you have a chance to win. They did and we didn't. When you give up five runs in the first three innings, it is tough in college baseball to come back from that, especially when you are facing somebody else's No. 1 [pitcher].

We feel fortunate that we have a lot of arms that we can throw. We feel like we have eight or nine players that can give us some innings this year.
