en Army and the organization went out on a limb. Even though we haven't accomplished our goals in recent years, it's a great feeling about the confidence and belief they have in me.

en It follows a set of regulars that come to the Wrigley Field bleachers every Chicago Cubs game. Most of them have quirky little personalities; most of them are addicted in some way, shape or form to gambling. There is a lot of gambling going on, betting on just about everything from who's going to score next to who's going to get on first base to who's going to catch a fly ball.

en He's strong. He's going to love Wrigley Field. He has tremendous sock to left field and to left-center. He doesn't hit the ball up in the air. He keeps it relatively low. The ball jumps off his bat. So far I like his swing. He can hit that fastball, which is where it starts.

en I want to teach these guys the winning attitude that you have to have on the field. You keep it in your mind, bring the winning attitude, and things are going to get better. It's going to be a long season, because we've got to teach all these kids. I look forward to that.

en It's been a tough season for everyone. We haven't made the playoffs in the last five years, and we haven't had a winning record since 2002. It's a cumulative effect. Certainly, the situation we had this year made it tough for Jim, the coaches and players, and everyone in the entire organization.

en We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.
