en Today, the new police chief has control of about 1,000 or 1,200 police inside the city now, ... And we think they'll probably -- they'll grow a little bit between now and the election, maybe about 1,500 or so.

en I think the city will do a great job. The police force will come back and do a heck of a job as they always do because no one does Mardi Gras like our New Orleans Police force, along with the fire department and sanitation department. Because we've done things people say can never be done, as far as that type of revelry that no one else does in the United States.

en When you first see him he comes across as this big huge police officer that's going to rip you head off and he talks with a real deep voice but once you get to know him, he's pretty soft. en The police department's investigation is very much continuing. At this point in the investigation, six female students at Paragon Mills have reported inappropriate contact by the teacher. The police department takes accusations such as this very seriously. In any case such as this we'd ask that anybody in the community who has information about this to contact the police department.

en I think the Ethics Commission didn't give proper consideration to the investigation previously done by the deputy city manager, which concluded that he acted within the discretion given to him as chief of police in both instances.

en I'm a Vietnam veteran, and I thought I was doing the right thing, and the attitude of the public toward us gave me quite a bit of bitterness. I then joined the El Paso Police Department and worked just shy of 20 years in the department. I had a bit of a drinking problem while with the police department.

en We had one person come in for early voting and wanted to vote for Brownwood police chief. We had to explain that the police chief isn't being elected right now.

en The chief really wants the neighborhood watch to be expanded. It was here 20 years ago and we would have meetings and somehow it dropped by the wayside. The police department needs help. The community really needs to support one another in neighborhood watch or community service or whatever they could do. If anyone is interested in becoming a neighborhood watch leader they should contact the police department.

en Our police department keeps a pretty close watch with their gang-intervention officers, and the police chief (John Blackburn) said we have not seen an increase in gang activity. Kids still fight like they do anywhere in the country, but that doesn't mean it's a gang-related issue.
