He said that [his Louisiana school] was going to have the best team they ever had. Him and his good buddies, they grew up together and looked forward to this year. It's a sad situation, but we're glad he gets to play his senior year.

You can't shut yourself off from hearing it, ... I've heard everything from late first round to fifth or sixth. I really can't think about that now. All I can think about now is having a good year. This is my senior year. In my senior year of high school I had no offers. So it doesn't make a difference to me what anyone says about me now. (Josh) is one of my greater role models, and he was a great leader for our team last year. I am glad that this is my year. I only have one more year left, being my senior year. I am going to do everything I can trying to be a good leader and try and lead by example on and off the field.

I went into last year without any anticipation of how I was going to do. I wanted to see how the whole thing would play out. It's definitely big leap to go from middle school to high school. I had to go against a lot of upperclassmen last year. In one of my first matches I had go against the senior captain of his team. I believe I beat him, but it was a little intimidating.

It's exciting with this being my senior year. We're a completely different team from last year. But I think we're going to have a good team, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do.

Our high school used to play there every year. When I got around, we canceled that. We never played there. I grew up going to all the games with my dad. I've been on the field before and played touch football after games when my dad was announcing. It would have been fun to play in your home town. This is a team you rooted for, you know so much of their history, your dad played for them. I grew up a Saints fan.

There were posters all over the school about the team. Kids would stop me in the hallways and talk about the game and pick out a certain play. School spirit was at an all-time high this year. The boys basketball team came to games when they had open dates. Both teams haven't always gotten along, but this year they were behind us. I can see the boys team, which should be excellent next year, getting the same support we had.

It was early in the year and we've looked forward to competing against them later in the year, ... They've obviously improved a lot over the course of the year and they beat Illinois, Penn State and Rhode Island. We're the only top-four team they haven't beaten.

Last year, our goal was to win at least three games, because that's something no Division 1 team without a senior class had ever done before. We ended up 2-7, which didn't sit well with anybody around here. We have everybody returning from last year's team and a lot of them have game experience, which puts us in a unique situation this season.

She waited so late to decide, and I'm kind of glad, because she had such a stellar senior year. I'm not sure at the beginning of the year that people realized how good a player she was.

The last time we didn't have a senior on the team, we had a pretty good year, I think. We were (37-1) and we won a national championship. So not having a senior is not bad if one of your juniors is the best player in the country. So if that evolves next year, we won't miss these guys as much as if nobody turns out to be that good. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. Then we'll miss them a lot.

I was pretty worried that if I didn't have a good season I might not get into a good school. But now I'm a little bit more relaxed. I get to sit back and just play ball and have fun my senior year.

The things Vernell Brown has done this year are special. He's really turned it on and is having a great senior year. I'm jealous of the senior year he's had. He's one of the smallest guys on the team and he is one of the strongest.
