The entire history of their company was basically on the floor. In one office, we were walking on a two-foot mat of paper. Canceled checks and computer printouts were spilled all over the place. They left behind copy machines and fax machines, which are now wrecked.

It's funny. In the spring, a lot of people had us finishing fourth or fifth in our division. Some people had Detroit finishing ahead of us, and a couple had Kansas City finishing ahead of us. It just shows you the way our guys came out and didn't care what people thought.

We really work as a team. We're not finishing first, (but) we're finishing second and third and that has an impact. … That's what is going to decide the (sectional) meet is getting those seconds or thirds. I think if we get two or three guys in the final heats we'll have a really good chance.

As far as pitching goes, it was pretty even. Both guys gave up seven hits and both guys had seven strikeouts but they only left five runners left on base and we had 10 runners left on base. If half of those guys score, it's a tie game and we're right back in it. Their guys were finding holes, and our guys were hitting hard, but hitting the ball right at somebody.

Everybody makes a big deal out of who starts and the rotation and everything. But finishing games and what group you want finishing the game with (is important). (The) vast majority of the machines infected...are home computers. Nothing will happen on them until people get home from work and boot up their machines. And then they left us; we heard them (mocking) us when they left, yelling back to us, 'Help us! Help us' as they drove away. I was so devastated that we were just left there by those guys. They were a real pair of bastards.
