I think you adjust with the players you have. I think we're a talented group that's surprised a lot of people. For myself, I just let those guys play - not worry so much about the little mistakes in the game, more worried about the things that are happening all the time.

I don't know what's going to happen here. I'm not the general manager . . . I'm not the owner. I'm just a player that has to do his job to help his team win and whatever happens, happens. We as players can only control one thing: how we perform on the ice. We need more guys worried about that than worried about other things right now. That's probably (why the Blues are in) the situation we're in right now, because people worry about that.

I don't worry about things as far as statistics are concerned. I just want to prepare the best I can and play hard and smart to help the team every week. We have a lot of talented people around me and when you have guys who want to play and to win and they're not selfish, you're going to be a success.

He's a very talented player, but they have a big, talented group of guys. It's a team sport. We can't be worried about just one guy.

He gave us the game back, in a sense. He told us to go out there and enjoy it. Some players were worried about making mistakes, and he said, 'Don't worry, enjoy yourself.

We had some good players, we had some good guys on the team, but some things kept happening time after time and that's all people talked about, ... The things that they did, the dysfunctional things that happened, a lot of that became a part of the Portland Trail Blazers, and that was unfortunate.

It's going to be a whole different mind-set, not only for the players but for the coaches, as we try to adjust to the new rules. Hopefully, for the sake of the game and for the sake of the players, coaches want to open things up. Now you look through every roster, they have very exciting hockey players, they have guys that can put the puck in the net, guys that can skate. Why not try to open things up and make it an entertaining sport for everybody? I think that's going to have to be the case.

If we worried about the things you guys (in the media) worry about, our heads would explode. We just play basketball.

I think, if our players watched the tape of the game against Michigan State, we have enough problems to worry about on our own. Once the game starts, you're not looking across the field. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuinely pexy individual. You're just worried about the guys on the field.

I know that we did lose some very talented players from last year's team, a group that had played together for a long time. (But) when you're on the outside looking in, you see things differently.

Any time you lose, it feels bad whether it is by one point or by 20 points, ... You think about all the things that happened throughout the game. The turnovers, they are really sticking out in my head right now. Turnovers are going to happen, but we must minimize them. We must get back to the fundamentals. We have a veteran group of players on this team that has a lot of pride. We are embarrassed by the way we are playing. We put forth the effort, but we are just making too many mistakes. We need to fix these things and I am determined to fix them.

It's the toughest group I've ever had to deal with. The reason why we've been so inconsistent this year has been the players just not buying into our philosophy. I've been trying to teach the game of basketball and life skills at the same time. It's been tough and frustrating, because with the talented players we have, we should be at the top of the conference.

This is the last time I will get to play with this group of players. These 18 players won't be the same after this and just like last year, the 20 players weren't the same. Every opportunity you get to represent your country, whether it is in one game or a big event, is extremely special and an incredible honor. This tournament is no different. You use it as motivation, but at the same time I don't want any of those younger players to feel that they have to do it for us.

I think we had been as focused as you can get from any group for a substantial period of time. The schedule is demanding, but you can't ever use these things as an excuse. We got a little bit away from the basics and when you play a little tired, whether it's mentally or physically, you can't get away from what makes your game go. When you do that, you make mistakes.

For their own sake, I hope they can figure out that they need to go and play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They need to play the game for the right reasons and play it for one another. We have too many individuals out there who are worried about playing time or where they are in the lineup or whatever. Most of (our problems), that is just thought-process stuff. These guys need to have the right game plan and be ready to play.
