Unfortunately, with less than two laps to go, something gave in the rear and I was left to consider what would have been while I was in the grass. On my way back to the pits in the safety car, the workers turned around, simultaneously, and told me we were on the top of the podium. Since then I have been in shock and utter disbelief. I can't say enough about the team's effort and my co-driver. I look forward in continuing on in the quest for the championship and those final two races.

I always knew where I was going eventually, so it helped me to stay at home for three years, ... It helped me to develop my game. But it also helped me off the ice. Life here is way different, and I was able to get older.

When things are going bad, you want to be there and play and help the team win. Unfortunately, that mind-frame ultimately hurt my team because I hurt myself by coming back too early.

Missouri Southern is a good fit for Ashley. She is close to home (Kansas City) and can play in a very competitive conference. Ashley has grown tremendously this year as a player and also as a person. Ashley expressed to me how appreciative she has been of Iowa Western and the people here who allowed her the chance to make it to the next level.

All four of those guys are back from last year's team, and that extra year of experience really has helped. They know what it takes to win now, and hopefully they know what it takes to win a conference championship, too.

Reggie was a great guy to have in the locker room and really meant a lot to us as a team, both on and off the field. He helped me, personally, with my faith, and I looked up to him the whole time. Freeman was tough. We gave him a little too much space to operate. He's long, left-handed and a lot of things we don't see every day in our league. Their length, strength and depth of bodies gave us some problems. They hurt us in some areas (inside) we haven't been hurt in previously.

We were a little bit upset by that overtime loss. We knew we were the better team, but it wasn't our night. Today in the first half, a lot of things worked for us. Maryland didn't quit. They fought back, and they gave us another good game.

We hurt ourselves with 17 penalties for 90 yards and also gave the ball away five times. Despite that, I thought we gave great effort all night. We will be fine and we will bounce back from this. Earle is just a good team. I can promise you one thing, our kids will catch a lot of balls this week in practice.

It got us on our heels. Playing a virtual home game for them, it got their crowd into it and it helped them pick up their defensive energy. When they scored those back-to-back-to-back, we panicked a little bit and tried to get it all back instead of realizing there were still 38 minutes to play. We rushed things, and that took us completely out of our game.
