As host of the tournament you sort of feel like you should play. But then I don't want to clutter up the field.

en She's only a sophomore and I started off playing her at No.3 singles and she only lost one match so I moved her to No. 2 (singles) and she went 9-0. Then she began playing at No. 1 singles.

en Overall, I am pleased with today. We didn't play as well in doubles as we can and that was disappointing. However, we played extremely well in singles. I thought that we played UNC the best that we have played any top-20 team this season, let alone a top-10 team. We matched up well against North Carolina. It was a matter of believing that we can compete with top teams, and I think we proved that to ourselves today. The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all.

en It was very important we won the match although it had nothing to do with getting me to 100. We needed it to continue our development as a team and continue our goal of trying to win this tournament. We played a good match today. South Carolina played well and will be tough in the NCAA Tournament.

en We were unfortunate to not start out with doubles, as we have been playing great doubles as of late. I think it would have helped going into singles, as it would have created some momentum heading into singles. Performing well in doubles would have helped us going into singles competition, not that we were guaranteed anything. They made us play and were the better team today. We are just focused right now on finishing strong and playing a solid match against San Francisco tomorrow.

en Lindsey played really well. She's playing sharper in singles, and everyone else is playing pretty well.

en We came into the tournament with a horrible record. It was a winning season, but everybody doubted us. South Carolina is this, South Carolina is that, we're underdogs, we're not going to do nothing in the tournament. Hey we're showing people right now we've got a lot of heart and we're tough.

en We are going to be playing North Carolina next season early on in a tournament, so that will be a big test for us.

en We're still struggling in doubles. Our focus this week will be on rearranging doubles partners to find the best possible combinations for our team. Bottom line though, was our singles play. We came in and got it done in singles and it resulted in a victory. I give credit to all of the singles players today. They played real hard.

en He played well the first half at South Carolina. It's not that he was not playing well. Other guys were just playing well.

en They're the kind of team that could make some noise in the NCAA Tournament. We were playing for a (league) championship today, but they were playing for the (NCAA) tournament. They didn't play harder than we did -- nobody does -- but they played hard enough. I thought they wore us down with their offensive execution.

en Overall, we played a pretty good opening weekend tournament. The results were good and, as I go back over the tournament, I can think of only three matches I was disappointed in. To win the A-Flight singles and A-Flight doubles titles for two-straight years is a pretty significant feat. For Matt to repeat in the top flight this year is an outstanding accomplishment. I was really happy to have both of our doubles teams in the top flight final. Tony and Jarrod had a great doubles tournament.

en Morgan is playing really good. He's 3-3 at singles (before last Tuesday) after not playing last year. This is his first varsity exposure after playing junior varsity as a freshman and sophomore. He's pretty good for not having played many varsity tennis matches.
