en I wanted to accomplish three things this year. Making this year's tournament better and getting the foundation set up. And the third thing is battling like heck for dates from 2007 to 2010 so that's where we are right now.

en Last year I think we wanted to be part of the NCAA Tournament so badly we didn't worry about the things that we could control, which is making our team better. That's what we're doing this year.

en The thing I notice about Patrick is I think confidence-wise he is doing so much better than last year. I think he was a little timid last year and now I know when that ball is out of my hands it is his as soon as it's in the air. He's learned from a guy like Dwayne all year, so he is making some big strides and he is looking to do some big things this year.

en That opens it up. Lisa's been coming on. She's been battling a leg problem all year and she was worrying that the doctor might shut her down for the year. She got the OK last Monday that it's not a stress fracture, and all of a sudden she's shooting the heck out of the ball.

en Valley doesn't change tremendously from year to year because they do things so well. I think the one thing they do well is just coach the heck out of the kids. We've tried to prepare in a lot of different ways, and a lot of it is anticipation of what you think they will do. en It was disappointing not making the tournament last year. We told the guys we were going to have to win out if we wanted to make the tournament, and that included Cliffside Park and Hackensack.

en This brought back some good memories. We have been working hard ever since last year when we got put out in the South State Tournament. Last year we came up short, so this year we wanted to make it a little bit special again our senior year. We wanted to come out and make a statement.

en I was just battling. The last couple of games I wasn't battling and I kept thinking about it. All I wanted to do was play like it might be the last game of the year and that's what I tried to do.

en This is disappointing, but we'll spend the coming year [trying] to rescue the craft and retrieve it in June 2010 if we can control it again by the beginning of 2007.

en There are certainly more teams that are in the pool for consideration than any year I've been involved, ... I'm sure given some of the upsets and the things that have gone on already this year, there will be many people who are making a case for themselves that they should be in the tournament field where they might have been left out in the past.

en Nobody said we were going to do what we did. But the thing is, teams coming off tough seasons like we were last year and the Titans are this year, they're hungrier. Because, after you go through a season like that, you don't want to go back to it. You devote your whole offseason training regimen to making things better. I guarantee they won't be the same team that they were last year.

en Last year was kind of a down year for us. We weren't out there for 200 dates last year, like usual. Don [Herron, the band's fiddle, pedal-steel and mandolin master] was off playing with Bob Dylan, Shaw was spending most of his time in Arizona, and I was in Nashville writing songs and doing my own thing.

en This is our fourth year to have the tournament in May, and we like those dates.

en I had a five-year plan when I took over as head coach in 2001, ... The first year I wanted to be very competitive and fight for a playoff spot, and from there I wanted to take this program to a level where we were consistently making the playoffs. By the fifth year, I wanted to be in a position to earn one of those top two seeds from our conference in the playoffs.

en Realistically, we thought of this as a game that we should be able to come in and win. With the experience that we have back and with what this team was able to accomplish a year ago (when IUS qualified for the NAIA National Tournament), we had high hopes coming into the year.
