en It's wonderful for the kids. They can go out and they have access to all those facilities right next door every school day, and they get a lot of use of them, and of course physical activity is so important these days.

en This is going to be a wonderful resource for us. It will fit in well to improve the health of the kids, and fit more exercise into the day, which in effect will make them better learners. Kids who have more physical activity are better learners. There used to be a mindset that physical education and activity was a waste of time in school, but it is not.

en All the research shows that physical activity will sharpen the brain. Physical activity will help the kids focus and that is definitely a benefit.

en We have a wonderful school district and it's an opportunity for us now to bring in a new leadership team to the high school. And as a community, I think it's important that we do that ... and work in the best interest of our kids.

en We broke it down into indoor facilities and outdoor facilities. The (high school athletic facilities) committee listed what we felt every school needed in priority order.

en The kids have surpassed our goal of $5,000. We are so very proud of them all. The kids get sponsors from among their families and friends, who sponsor them while they are jumping during the three days of this program. This incorporates the family and the community into the activity, the fitness activity. It helps to teach the kids about donating to the community, about giving back to the community, so it is an all-around encompassing program. The kids really take a great deal of pride in raising this money, and they develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment from this.

en It's important to keep kids in a safe secure environment year round. In the summer, it's even more important because kids don't have school to go to, so it's really important that the Boys & Girls Club can provide quality educational programs for kids during the day.

en Climbing is a great sport for all kids. Not only does it help for physical fitness, it also develops a high level of self-confidence. Once kids begin climbing they develop a strong positive attitude, and a willingness to take on challenges both physical and mental that might have scared them away before they learned to climb. Parents tell us their kids often do better in school after they go climbing.

en I don't think this has ever happened before, particularly in the first week of school, ... We're pleased to invite the teams here and give them access to our facilities.

en Because of the sugar, no carbonated beverage, no soda can be sold to the kids. If the school chooses to have a soda machine, they can do that as long as the kids don't have access to it 30 minutes before the school day and 30 minutes after the school day.

en For the kids who are scared to death of heights, it's an advantage because they're not going to get hurt. The big thing in physical activity is, the kids don't get to experience things like this very often.

en I think it's a parenting issue. I think kids are realizing they can participate with asthma, whereas years ago, parents would pull their kids out of physical activity.

en It is important that we enhance the physical security of our facilities.
