en Fisher's already apologized for that statement. What we're talking about is speed. There's speed that cuts across black, white, gray, blue, whatever. It was just an inappropriate comment and you all know it was an inappropriate comment.

en I don't see this as an inherently dollar-positive statement. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. We'll see much greater uncertainty around the Fed at least until the next meeting because this statement is so flexible.

en Alex is a great guy, man, ... Everybody knows that he's very talented. Alex has a great personality. I have a lot of respect for Alex. Alex is very interesting when you sit down and talk to him.

en Although we are obviously disappointed, Alex's health is most important. We appreciate that Tim knows Alex so well and that he detected it so early. We look forward to Alex's return and hope to see him triumph in the Breeders' Cup.

en Anything that a crony of Alex might say is highly suspect. Alex has a deep hatred for Jim Petro. I think Alex is behind this effort.

en Alex has really grown into the position. She has a great sense of who to get the ball to and when. It's been huge that Alex is able to score out of that spot. Defenders can't lay off Alex, and that's given Cara some breathing room.

en The mayor's statement speaks for itself, ... I have no comment beyond that at this point.

en [Tim Wakefield has given up at least two homers in 8 of his last 12 games, a total of 21 over that span. The three gopher balls last night boosted his season total to 29, tying him with the Yankees' Randy Johnson for the league lead. . . . Wade Miller threw about 30 pitches in a bullpen session. . . . Mueller's hitting streak is 14 games. . . . Tony Graffanino had a tender right hamstring and was out of last night's lineup. He was replaced at second by Alex Cora.] If it feels like it did (today), ... I'll probably need another day or so. But hopefully, with all the treatment I got, it will be a lot better.
