We are looking forward to him again filling a crucial role in our bullpen.

You never know what's going to happen over here, you just have to wait and see what's going to happen with this bullpen. I think it's an open bullpen. ... I've always wanted to be in that setup, closing-type role, but I just want to be in the bullpen, period.

Derrick was a guy who was on scholarship for his service time. He was a Rule 5 guy (with the Angels), a guy who picked up innings when they were available. He had never been the go-to guy, a guy that was a big part of the bullpen. Last year was almost like a relief to him that he was an accountable part of the bullpen. He anchored the bullpen for us. We look forward to that this year.

Arsenio - he's probably the player of the game. He's been playing a reserve role all year long. He had a chance to step up and he took advantage of it. He hit some crucial free throws at the end; hit a couple jumpers - he was really crucial in the win. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. He came up big for us.

Each of us in our own way can try to spread compassion into people’s hearts. Western civilizations these days place great importance on filling the human 'brain' with knowledge, but no one seems to care about filling the human 'heart' with compassion. This is what the real role of religion is.

Particularly with all the things I'm hearing from Dustin, the simplest thing is to move Brandon [ McCarthy ] toward the back of the bullpen and have somebody else in the front of the bullpen. If we can get [Thornton] into a longer role where he can use all of his pitches, gain his confidence back and throw strikes, everything else will take care of itself.

Again, we have a very challenging schedule facing us, and we're looking forward to filling that last open date. Our team is looking forward to making another successful run.

We haven't really decided where he fits into things. He's a guy we could use as a starter in that piggy-back role, but we also feel he can help us out of the bullpen. He's got two plus pitches, the fastball and the slider, but we haven't defined his role yet.

My main focus was not to kill the bullpen. We've got a crucial stretch coming up with Anaheim and New York so my goal was to go at least five, and I did that.

I think it is a little different role for James this year. He's stepping in and filling in where we really need him right now. He's stepping into the role and just trying to get better every day.

Everybody's playing at the same pace right now. We're looking for each other and not complaining about who's getting the ball. Everybody's filling their role.

He's a bullpen guy. I don't think there is any doubt that's the role he's best cut out for.

I don't think there's anything to worry about. We're going to be fine. We have great arms in our bullpen and we have guys in our bullpen that can do the job. Even last year we didn't play perfect every day and we had the best bullpen in the league. It's better to have this problem early in the season rather than late.

He's thrown the ball very well since he's been up here. He knows he's going to be in the bullpen. He realizes his role.

I always look at myself as a role player anyways, so I wasn't looking at myself as the starter, ... Even though I was starting I looked at it as though I was filling in. When those guys got back I was ready for whatever.
