We lost more kids ordtak

We lost more kids than we probably have in the last 10 years. But then you add Libby O'Brien and Krissy Brown. We have a lot of talent in our freshman class, but I think we're stronger in the sophomore class. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her.

That was the first time, other than the medley (relay) that we've put Libby (O'Brien) on anchor. Starting her just wasn't working. When Krissy (Brown) starts, that seems to spark her. We get more out of it all the way around with Krissy starting and Libby on anchor.

They are young and I really do feel that they have a lot of talent. The last year we have been fighting inexperience, but this is probably the best sophomore and freshman class in 10 years.

There may be more guys leaving from that sophomore class. And that was a horrible class to begin with. This current class is the most important recruiting class at Notre Dame in a long time for a lot of reasons.

We've only got nine seniors on the team. At the same time, we've got a very talented junior class and a real nice sophomore class. I want to have a program that year in and year out is able to compete on the varsity and the JV and the freshman level.

They're all good kids and basketball junkies. The sophomore class has talent and depth. The one thing we really don't have in the program is size.

Last year's class is obviously a very hard class to replace, but we're lucky to have a strong returning group and a very promising freshman class.

Some of it is we need to fill numbers, but the bigger side is this is a very talented freshman class. Regardless of class, we want the top nine or 10 guys in our program starting on the varsity level. I want to reward those kids who work their butts off.

You can't be content riding on the coattails of seniors that aren't there anymore. The run was nice, but these guys were anxious to step in. Even though they're a younger class -- three sophomore starters -- they're out for a completely new season. They're trying to establish a name for this class over the next few years coming up.

We're older and wiser. Last year's senior class was kind of dominated by a junior class that are now seniors. We have a level of experience and we have an interesting mix here. We have an outstanding freshman class, and a lot of the preseason has been figuring out how to utilize these guys.

Some say the rankings are as complex as the BCS. We pride ourselves trying to tweak it each year and trying to develop it. The best way is sum up all the parts. Both quality and good quantity will score the nation's No. 1 class. You can still rank high if you have only 15 to 16 [commitments in a] class ... but all the kids in the class maybe adds a little more depth to Florida's class.

I can honestly say I think we are going to have our best season in ten years. We have a lot of experience coming back and a lot of young kids that are willing to work hard. It's a very strong freshman class.

We only have three seniors. We have a big sophomore class and freshmen class. Obviously we hope we can do this again next year.

A lot of people are talking, saying the sophomore class is the one that is going to get us back to where we were. But hard work is the only thing that is going to get us there. ... Our talent alone isn't going to get us very far.

For the past five years or so, business class has been taking the place of first class. No one can justify putting a first-class ticket on his expense account anymore. No one's willing to pay that much of a premium.
