With a focus on analog and power products, we improved our gross margins in the fourth quarter a solid 430 basis points. We made excellent progress in 2005 by improving our management of the distribution channel, reducing inventories throughout the supply chain, and reducing our capital spending and ultimately depreciation expense. Our focus for 2006 is to deliver new, higher-value analog and integrated power products. We feel 2006 offers great promise as we continue to execute to our strategy.

en Due to strong consumer acceptance of new products, growth for TV and appliance retailers in 2005 was the healthiest of any home furnishings sector. Now that the tax refund cycle is in full swing, retailers in this segment might be well served to monitor inventory levels more efficiently to be sure that the supply is keeping up with demand.

en 2005 turned out to be a very good year for the semiconductor industry. Despite record energy prices and an unprecedented series of natural disasters, worldwide demand for semiconductors increased in all end markets. Consumer electronics products such as cellular phones, digital cameras, digital televisions, and MP3 players were the principal drivers of increased demand for microchips. Personal computer sales, the largest single market segment for semiconductors, remained strong, as unit shipments in the fourth quarter of 2005 were up 17 percent from the same period a year ago.

en We know that the PC sector won't be good in the first quarter but consumer products are playing a more important role now and that will help boost demand for chips.

en Production growth is being driven by strong export demand and rising consumer spending at home. There will be some moderation in the fourth quarter because of slower investment growth and some temporary weakness in U.S. demand.

en The March quarter results demonstrate a continuation of our strong and consistent financial performance and penetration of new markets. Providing customers with high quality, cost-effective hard drives at capacity points they require -- when they need them -- is of tremendous value in all the markets that we serve: notebook, consumer electronics, enterprise, branded products and desktop. As these markets grow, we have significant opportunities to leverage our investments into continued strong financial performance.

en Despite market concern for consumer spending, fourth quarter demand remained strong with most regions coming in ahead of expectations.

en It's a solid, strong report. But we have to remember we are coming from a very weak fourth quarter, so this is mainly a rebound from those weak levels. Consumption and investment remain strong and inflation keeps ticking up, but most of it is still related to oil prices. This could bode well for markets this Friday.

en Given our excellent position in the communications and electronics markets and our strong backlog levels, we continue to feel comfortable with fourth quarter earnings per share of 39 cents.
