We set some aggressive operational and financial goals in the middle of last year, and I'm pleased to report that Fairchild has delivered impressive first-quarter results, ahead of our expectations.

Our eighth consecutive quarter of double-digit sequential revenue growth and net earnings in the quarter of $2.8 million reflect a continuation of the momentum that was generated last fiscal year and put the company on pace to achieving our annual guidance.

We are pleased to report another quarter of strong financial and operational results, as well as the completion of several activities that position us well for 2006. During the fourth quarter of 2005 we opened one new development project, entered into a land development joint venture, acquired interests in two regional malls, sold twelve non-core retail real estate assets, issued $1.1 billion of unsecured notes at attractive coupons, and expanded and extended our corporate credit facility on more favorable terms. In addition, our development program continues to proceed with six projects under construction. We are also pleased to announce today an 8.6 % increase in our common stock dividend.

The strength in our third-quarter financial results is cause for excitement. I'm particularly pleased that we continue to demonstrate impressive growth at the same time we are engaged in important merger discussions.

Our strong first quarter results and guidance for sequentially higher daily shipments and gross margin for the second quarter provide more evidence of the progress Fairchild is making at improving the quality of our business. I'm personally excited to be part of this great team and to help lead the powerful transformation that is underway at Fairchild.

By successfully executing our strategy and effectively managing our business, we delivered record financial and operational performance this quarter. Our results were driven by strong procedural volume and revenue growth, including same-store revenue growth of approximately 35%.

We are pleased with our first quarter financial results that demonstrate our success in the market and our focus to improve our financial performance. Earnings per share came in above the high end of the range we communicated in our mid-quarter update as a result of higher revenues and improved gross margins. We remain cautiously optimistic that capacity expansion in semiconductor manufacturing will continue in a rational manner, and we look forward to further improvements in our financial metrics as the year continues. We had another excellent year in 2005, both financially and strategically. Our business units performed well and delivered solid financial results, which are even more impressive considering we added the USF companies to our portfolio and realigned our regional service coverage.

We are very pleased with our first quarter results. The company's strong performance demonstrates the benefits of our continued diversification and enhanced operational focus. This past quarter we had particularly strong results in Retail Banking and Card Services.
