Apple's announcement deterred investors ordtak

en Apple's announcement deterred investors from buying certain semiconductor-related stocks. But the New York market stabilized as a whole, and that is a big plus.

en Investors were active in buying properties after recent correction. Buying interest in China-related stocks was also very strong.

en I think, first of all, the semiconductor sector had been oversold. This was one area, the technology market that just did not perform well over the past few months. There is a lot of concern with investors whether or not this current upturn in the semiconductor industry has peaked. There is a huge debate going on whether or not we still have any growth left. And, our view has also been that, yes, we believe this is more of a seasonal slowdown than any prolonged downturn for the industry. So we think there is some legs left in the semiconductor cycle. And as a result, we would be a buyer of some of these stocks.

en Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. The concerns that underpinned our mid-cycle correction thesis are beginning to dissipate, and semiconductor stocks globally are well below their March highs. We would advise investors to begin buying semiconductors more aggressively.

en The market was so strong, I certainly didn't imagine stocks would surge this much at the start of the year. Foreign investors have been betting on Japan's economic recovery, and that's why they are increasing their holdings of domestic-demand-related stocks.

en Investors are more confident about buying domestic demand- related shares after the report. The market took higher prices positively as the market's momentum continues to rise.

en It is as easy as selling the losers and buying the winners. It's a continuation as investors are buying the successful stocks and ignoring the value stocks.

en I think it's foreign investors who are aggressively buying banking stocks now ... in order to factor in Japan's economic recovery they are buying the most liquid Japanese stocks -- banks.

en I suggest the small investors dig in their heels with this market, not worry too much. The Fed really didn't cause a significant inflation problem. So far, this inflation pressure has been no worse than the worst it's been in the last several years. And each time it's been a great buying opportunity. Any time you can buy the S&P 500, the stock market index of the top 500 stocks, when its 7 to 11 percent off the all-time high, it's probably 2 to 1 odds. Given the history of super bull markets that we've had for 18 years in the two other of the century, that's going to be a fabulous buying opportunity. And if it's not, than you're probably half way down to the ultimate low and that's going to be an even more fabulous buying opportunity.

en I don't see any steep gains. Chances are that investors will take the announcement as an exhaustion of buying incentives. Having said that, withdrawal from some of its major product lines, such as stationary audio equipment, could be seen favorably in the market.

en Investors need to be focused on buying bonds for the diversification benefits to stocks. If you are worried about a stock market correction, you should have some bonds for the steady income they provide. It's true that 30-year Treasuries are coming down, because of supply and demand concerns, but there are plenty of alternatives for individual investors.

en Apple is, in many ways, a market unto itself. We believe there is a high likelihood that investors will overreact to this news and take down the PC names in sympathy. We would particularly view this as a buying opportunity for Gateway, and to a lesser extent, Compaq and Dell.

en There is this vague hope about the start of the new fiscal year ... I don't think institutional investors are in a rush to buy stocks, but they won't miss a buying opportunity if the market falls.
