en Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. It can enhance the excitement of the race. As it transfers to stock cars, and particularly applies to Daytona and Talladega, with the cars running closer together, a bump draft at the right time in the right place is not the worst thing in the world. But it has been turning bump drafting into slam drafting, because the hits just keep getting harder and harder and harder.

en The first thing that comes to mind when I think about returning to Talladega next weekend is that I hope I don't hit anything! It's the same as always when we think about Talladega, but I think we've got better cars than we've ever had for our speedway program. Our speedway program has been a lot better the last couple of years. I don't want to lie and say that I look forward to going there, but I look forward to going there more than I have in the past. I think we can be competitive and hopefully we can be in the lead draft and stay out of trouble.

en I really hope we got our bad luck out of the way in Dover. We cut that first tire down and were able to battle back but when the second one went, our day was finished. Looking ahead to Talladega, the most important thing is to stay out of trouble. That's not always within your control, however, with the field running so closely together, but we'll avoid what we can and hopefully be around in the lead draft at the end.

en Daytona and Talladega are two different animals. When it comes to speed they are basically the same. When you're working on qualifying, it doesn't matter, if you're finding speed at Talladega, you're finding speed at Daytona. When we get into drafting practice and we get into handling and stuff like that then they are two different tracks. That's where you hear a lot of guys say they bring different types of cars to Daytona then they do to Talladega because once you get 30 laps into a run, the car definitely handles differently at Talladega than what it does at Daytona.

en When I look back on all those races, it's really hard to believe that we haven't won at Talladega or Daytona. We have one last chance remaining and that's this weekend at Talladega. We're definitely coming in there with all our guns loaded and ready to go.

en I've been out there and gotten hit in the back with a bump draft that you would have thought you hit the wall it was so hard. And that's not going to be possible anymore.

en I have to admit, I was a little timid with it up there. I knew it was there and it was softer, but I am really trying not to bump draft. I've gotten myself into more trouble at plate tracks than I care to, so I'm just going to keep my bumper to myself.

en Talladega just carries more variables that are out of your control than any other race. That's kind of why we view Talladega as a wild-card race. You can't really predict anything.

en The one thing I can say is that at the end of the race the bump drafting picked up, and looking at my bumper and knowing the bump drafting that I was doing, the bumper wasn't damaged. We might have to soften them up another notch.
