en Not many people have seen the real Grady Paxton yet. He is practicing like a bear every day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. He's a great person and a great wrestler. He just needed to be healthy.

en We're keeping an eye on Jimmy, but I think it's time for Brandon Frye to step up.

en We had success right off the bat, ... Our first team lost in the state championship game in McKinney. Brandon Grant and Charlie Wells from Liberty-Eylau were pitchers on that team.

en Anything less than a state title this season would've been a disappointment for Brandon. He's a great wrestler and an even better person and teammate. He's a kid who's paid his dues and made all the sacrifices. If anybody earned a state championship, it's Brandon.

en Brandon is a proven guy who has shown the ability to play at this level. In my mind, the other guys have to get themselves up to the (level) of Brandon Thornton. Brandon is the starter until someone proves differently.

en I have been on the other side of that mystique (wrestling for Brandon) and a couple of our kids have wrestled in the Brandon club, so that (mystique) will not affect us. We will not be intimated by Brandon.

en Charlie Frye's greatest contribution of the day was keeping me somewhat mental on the sidelines because I was losing my mind.

en I have been working very closely with Brandon and his family and it is with our blessing that he has put his name into the draft. Brandon will be able to take advantage and benefit from the rule and find out where he stands in the eyes of NBA coaches and general managers, while still maintaining the option of returning to San Diego State. We will continue to work closely with Brandon and if he is a first round pick, we will advise him to go. We are extremely proud of what Brandon has done for himself, for the University and San Diego State basketball, both on the court and in the classroom.
