We on the coaching staff have told our players this is the time to play our best ball if we want to repeat last year. We have been getting better and I am excited for them.

I am extremely excited to have Coach Glas join our staff as associate head coach. He's a coaching legend. To have someone of his experience joining our staff is invaluable. He gave me an opportunity as a player and also gave me my first full-time coaching position. I couldn't be happier that we'll be working together again.

To be chosen to represent your state is an honor and so is getting to coach your guys one last time. I'm excited to work with a great coaching staff, and great players for a week. It's really my first all-star game and I'm excited.

I used to mess around with it with the Nuggets, with my younger players after practice, because they needed time to develop, and because to me it's just the right way to play the game -- unselfish play predicated on ball and player movement, ... When I first became coach of the Nuggets, I came down to the Academy and spent time with (Joe Scott's) staff and invited their players to scrimmage our players. I knew the Air Force players would make our guys chase them defensively. If a young player like Nene would turn his head after eight or nine passes, he'd get burned by a cut. It really helped us.

I didn't have time to hire half my coaching staff. I didn't know any of the players by sight, but somehow we got through spring ball with the help of a couple of graduate assistants.

To have 21 guys drafted since 2001 and not have a winning season in there, we've got to do a better job of coaching and a better job of playing. Notice I said coaching first. I'll put the heat on our coaching staff. A big part of coaching is discipline. A big part of coaching is getting them to buy into what you're doing. If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.

The coaching staff has really been emphasizing getting to players quicker. Not necessarily to make a big hit, but to take away their time and space to make a play.
