This has been an organization that prides itself on putting a good line on the field. They know if you have a solid offensive line, everything goes from that point on. You can dictate what you want to do.

I've often said the greatest equalizer in college basketball is the 3-point line. They outscored us by 12 from the 3-point line. Our inability to limit them to one shot and inability to guard the 3-point line cost us. Anytime a team can come into your building and shoot 53 percent from the field and 47 percent from the 3-point line, you have to have a very, very good night on offense.

We just played a pretty good offensive line in Denver. Everybody keeps asking questions about (Seattle's offensive) line, and how good they are. They are a great offensive line. But I like our defensive line.

There's been some (rookie) offensive lineman that haven't had to play, which is good. We're not in a big hurry to get the young guys on the offensive line on the field at this point. But our young guys are getting work. They're going to be good. They could show up at some point.

I think I'm going to get an opportunity to rush the passer. For us to have success in this game, our defensive line is going to have to do a very good job of getting pressure on the quarterback.

They're working hard. Defensively, we'll be ready to play. The tough part is trying to rebuild that offensive line. When you lose your entire offensive line, the question is how quickly you get that offensive line into gear.

Our offensive line, we've been working on it. The offensive line position, when you're in the film session, all you point out is the bad, but when they do well, that's what they're supposed to do. They don't get the credit they deserve.

I thought Ben has gotten better and better each week. The biggest thing with Ben is just learning the basics of offensive line play. He never really played that much offensive line, but he was born to be an offensive lineman. He has a bright future in this game. He's such a good person; he works hard, and he's smart.

It all starts with the offensive line. Our line is just getting after it. Look at the Northwestern film. They were putting guys on their backs left and right.

Coach (Clint) Smith was saying that he's been here seven or eight years and this (offensive) line has the most potential of any line we've had. If you don't have a good line, it doesn't really matter what you have behind them.

It was a big one for Gannon, but more so, a big one for the offensive line. They really got a good push on the defensive line, and once Gannon gets past the initial point of attack and into space, he's dangerous.

We were able to play very good defense from the get-go, and on the offensive line we were able to control people. Ultimately, when you do that, you've got a chance to be in it wherever you are. Mentally, our offensive line is much stronger, and they just keep getting better every week in that respect.

I give it up to the offensive line. Our offensive line opened up some holes, then moved on to the linebackers. The first time I was getting hit was by a cornerback or safety. It felt good to pound on those guys.

Several of the players listed at right wing have played center in the NHL, like Trevor Linden. Some can play both wings. I've been skating on a line with the Sedin twins. They are a lot more skilled than some people give them credit. Look at their point totals and they are right up there in their point-per-minute averages. My job will be to complement them and try to get our line to provide secondary scoring behind the big line of Naslund, Bertuzzi and Morrison. Those guys look good and I expect they'll be the top line in the NHL again.

We forced some things when they switched to a zone. We had a pretty good first quarter, but we kept putting them on the line. I told them after the first, we had to keep doing this without putting them on the line.
