I am on the record, and have been since becoming a board member, about funding vouchers at the expense of public schools. We have to fund schools equitably and adequately. I'm not interested in robbing Peter to pay Paul. |
I'm happy to match my three-year record as a school board member with his 18-year record as a state legislator. All you have to do is look at his Web site. He has no record to speak of. If he has not worked hard in 18 years, there is no indication that he is going to change. The past is a good indicator of the future. |
My assumption is that I have been on the record (against) vouchers and he knew that. My reasoning for the donation is that Dr. Leininger is pro-education, and I have a proven track record in education from kindergarten through graduate school. |
Pat has denied how he voted on this legislation. He voted to support House Bill 396 in 2001 during the 77th Legislature, but Gov. Rick Perry vetoed the bill. |
That's exciting. It's great to hear a plan that recognizes the state's responsibility in adequately funding public schools. |
The answer I got when I complained was that the Republican Party rents its office from Pat Haggerty, and that he can do anything he wants to with the building. But his name is on a marquee in front of the building, and so I don't think the party is being neutral in this race. |
