[Manning's center, Shaun O'Hara, sensed Eli's growth by the way he sounded in the huddle.] Eli went from saying everything as if it had a question mark at the end of it, ... to saying things with a commanding presence. |
Bottom line, you've got to bring your 'A' game. Now we're in a must-win situation. I would've thought we'd have felt that way today. It's disheartening, to say the least. |
Easy game? There's no easy game in the NFL, ... I know this game was on grass and you're always more sore after a game on artificial turf, but I'm telling you, I'm going to be sore from this one. It was an extremely physical game. |

Eli's not a scream-and-shout guy. He's a quiet, lead-by-example type. Won't say much, but when he does, it means something. He doesn't just talk to talk. He's just the most humble guy in the world. He's got the Manning name on his back and he's the No. 1 pick, which means he carries around all those expectations, but he never acts like anything but one of the guys in this locker room, never puts himself on any pedestal. |
Finn is kind of the red-headed stepchild of our team. He's not really a running back because they don't give him the ball. He's not a receiver because they rarely throw to him. And we don't want him on the offensive line because he's too skinny to be a part of the line. So I guess he's just kind of a mutt. He's just a mutt who does whatever is needed. |
He did look pretty good. He had some moves. |
He finds a way to win. People can say all they want to about him, his completion percentage, or he's young and he's struggled of late. You know what? The guy finds ways to win. |
He is our Derek Jeter and he's our Mariano Rivera all in one. He's our closer. I think he's a lot underappreciated in this league. |
I hope we carry this over to next week and we take it out on Oakland. That's what I'm hoping for. I hope guys look around and say we've got too good of a team to let something like this - I mean, there's got to be a time where we mature as a team, and win games that we're supposed to win. We haven't done that this year. |
I think right now, coming into this season, it was really just our confidence and our ability to execute the offense the way it's supposed to be, ... This was our second year. We harped on it all preseason, how much more comfortable everybody is in this offense, and I think that's showing on Sundays. That's coming out. |

I think the off-season program is important. It allows guys to work together. To spend time together. But by no means is it absolutely the difference between winning and losing. |
I was proud of Eli, ... As soon as we had that turnover, he was on the sidelines saying, 'We're going to get the ball back. We're going to get the ball back and we got three timeouts and we're going to win this game.' |
I was really impressed with his poise and the way he was able to handle everything. Not many people want to come into a stadium and face what he had to face. You couldn't tell by looking at him that anything was happening. It didn't bother him. He handled it with such class. He really wanted to win this game. Early on it was loud and it was tough, but he handled it beautifully. |
