It?s not something that appeals to me. It?s quirky. But I?m glad to see it out here in public and changing all the time.

It was good to get out there. To get the opportunity to finally show my teammates that 'Hey, I can pitch,' - I know I kind of had a bum spring, but the bell rang and it's time to show up.

We all know as a staff that we hold our own fate. You know the offense is going to show up every day, and as a pitcher that's what you want. There's no room for excuses. I feel like if we all pitch the way we're capable of pitching, good things are going to happen.

Right now it's a 50/50 split, roll the dice. It's slowly melting and slowly rising but as long as it's a slow rate we can stay ahead of it, we'll be ok.

I didn't feel like I was pitching. It was more like I was throwing.

I broke that window out and yelled in there to see if I could at least hear somebody, maybe drag them out through that window, but nobody answered.

Fifty years ago, everyone read a few general-interest publications such as the Saturday Evening Post and Life magazine. Today, there's an explosion of specialty publications. People are doing what they are interested in. If they're interested in working with children, they work with the Boy Scouts.

The offense has really been picking us up. Hopefully, sooner [rather] than later, I can figure this out and the offense won't always have to bang it out like that. It was good to have them pick me up. I just didn't feel productive today. That's what this game is about. Figuring it out or they find someone else.

We plan on it being long-term. It's been a three- or four-year process.

Once we got those runs, I felt like I could attack the strike zone. Our offense has been doing that all year, giving us some room and letting us be aggressive.

It's definitely a start in the right direction. I think the first one is probably the toughest one any time you start the season. It's good to have it behind me.
