He's in much better shape. We know we can count on him. Last year he got hurt and the weight was a factor . . . I believe. We know we can depend on him this year. He's come back and been very accountable and that's very good. He looks like a player.

He's the type of guy that can flip the switch probably better than anybody. He can be in here warming up with the guys and jackin' around and then he goes out there and crosses the line and, bang, he's all business and trying to win the drill. One minute he's putting ice cubes down a coach's back, and the next he's throwing a touchdown pass where he's totally focused on what he's doing.

I don't think we're close to hurting each other necessarily. It's a physical game and ... I would like them at this point of the season to be physical because you're determining an attitude. ... I don't want anything cheap, but I want guys to be physical on both sides.

I think it's the best start he's had since I've been here. We usually knock the kinks out a little bit. But, he did a pretty good job tonight. It's as good as I can remember.

I'm very concerned about special-teams coverage. Two weeks in a row we gave up a kickoff return. I'm very concerned, particularly when we came out of the San Diego game (Aug. 11) and felt very confident. Overly confident, I guess, as you may look at it right now.

No scheme is foolproof, but he knows it and can teach it. It's going to take some time. It's not going to happen overnight that our players are in synch with everything. Our fans probably expect it to be an overnight deal, but it's not going to happen that way. It's going to take some steps to get it right.

That's a play he created. He had guys in his way and he was still able to make the play. That was a play he wanted to make.

There's still concern, because he's not back out here. At the same time, it's not a surgical issue, which certainly is an advantage for us and for him. I'm grateful for that.

Thing about the kid, he doesn't get real flustered. A lot of kids will drop a ball and go into the tank. It doesn't seem to faze him. He has a lot of resiliency mentally.

This is the preseason. We will get fixed what needs to get fixed. Hopefully, this game will be a distant memory four weeks from now.

When you have No. 4 there, there's always the assumption of greatness, of hope, because of what he's capable of doing. His value to our team, obviously, is immense.

Hannibal Navies has done a good job for us in the past, ... He's a good linebacker, and he's more suited for maybe an 'under' defense more so than our 'over' defense right now. (You) can't find a better kid than Hannibal Navies. He's done a lot for us.

Walt Williams has children down there with his mom and dad. Raynoch's whole family is down there, ... We have some kids from down there who are obviously concerned, and rightfully so. (But) there's not much they can do.

I wish they both were with us the entire preseason. Hopefully we'll have them for the extent of the season.

I didn't have a whole lot of choices. The doctors have held them back, so my choices have been limited. So what do I do from here? Well, we get them on (the field), we continue to condition them, we try to get them in the game on Thursday night against Tennessee, try to get them ready. I can just deal with the options that are available to me, and these are the options. Do I like them? Not necessarily.
