We're that team that isn't beaten down. We didn't travel around the world and back. We've had some success, but I think we've played in some awfully tough environments as well. |
We're very thankful and fortunate to be in it. I wanted to watch that (selection) show and double-check and make sure they were giving the tournament champion in the A-10 an automatic bid. No matter who they were going to tell us to play, we were going to be excited. We're the most excited team in the country. |
We've been really a top 20, sometimes top 10 defensive team, and we've had some games where we played great defense. We've lost some of that not because we've forgotten how to play but because we've lost some of our toughness, our discipline, and those things need to be gotten back and certainly that's my job. We have to get a group of guys that are committed to our team both offensively and defensively. |
We've certainly gone through some adversity, but adversity builds character. We have a great core group that's not only intact for the remainder of this season but beyond. A lot of times when you go through something like this, you become toughened and hard-crusted. When those moments come in the next few weeks, a lot of times the breakthrough moment hap- pens when you never look back. |
We've got to be a team with as much as we've been through and as well as we've played this season, to have this as a blip on the screen. (To go to) being a team that's going to make shots at the end, that's going to finish games, that's going to play throughout the way we did in the beginning. |
We've had a hard time putting 40 minutes of basketball together. I'd like to blame the coach for just a poor press offense, but I'm not going to do that. You have to be able to catch it, dribble it and pass it with confidence. We certainly didn't do that. You could ask why? We did a have a completely new lineup in there. I'm glad we were able to learn from it, and not be penalized for a loss. |
What a game, what a battle. We beat a good basketball team tonight that's going to the NCAA tournament. |
What a war. What an amazing game from start to finish. The guy (Muhammad) made a great shot at the end, so on to the next five minutes. We found our poise and went back out there and finished the game and tried to stay on course. |
What it will do is it's going to put us in some tough positions. And it's probably not going to allow us to break through and be that team that I think we can be on the road in those tough games. ... If you just let teams get second shots on you, it really wears against you. Especially in the Creighton game, if you look at one thing that hurt us, that really hurt us badly. |
When you combine Morrison and [J.P.] Batista, they go to the foul line 16 times, and when they go, they make 'em. That doesn't bode well for our team. Being able to defend without fouls is a real key. |
Where we go from here, we're starting over. I think I would be foolish myself not taking full responsibility ... In terms of our lineup from this point on ... that's very undecided. We need to get some of the things back that we've done so well for so long. |
Without that, it's tough for us to win right now. |
Yeah, you can't say enough good things about his talent level and how unique he is. He deserves all the accolades he gets. ... He's got an edge to him, and he's got a nastiness to him. I mean that in a complimentary way. He's not going to back down. The bigger the moment, the bigger he is. |
You have to chuckle when you see what Morrison does. Offensively, you can make the case that there may have been no one in the modern era who has been more efficient as a perimeter player. |
You just know it's going to be tough. |
