I've been going 100% the past couple of days so hopefully when I wake up tomorrow it will be the same situation.

I was going 100 percent today -- the last couple days, actually.

It's been a goal of mine. I wanted to play in this as soon as I heard about it. It's just a chance to put on the red, white and blue for the first time. I think it's an honor. I think it's something a lot of us should take pride in, no matter what country you're playing for.

He was a treat to watch, always had a smile on his face and you never knew what he was going to do from inning to inning. He's the guy I tried to model my game after as much as possible.

Our goal was to get there [to San Diego]. We just came up short.

We're disappointed, but we can't really hang our head too much. This tournament shows you how good baseball is around the world. It's been fun to be a part of. It's fun to see the different countries and how they play the game, and the different flair they bring to it, and all the fun they have. Unfortunately, they had a little too much fun tonight.

I said we'd play together at some time in our careers. We both have long careers ahead of us, and we enjoyed playing together when we had the opportunity to. We both feel the same way. We both want that to happen again -- no matter where it is.

The new guys that have come in are fitting in nicely. We brought in good people, and I think that's the important thing. It makes the transition a whole lot easier. Guys have come in and enjoyed themselves.

Gibby allows us just to go out and play the game. All he asks is that we play hard. He knows, being a former player, that you're going to struggle. For a manager to understand that and still stick with you, and let you get through it, it's huge, because you know he's behind you 100 percent.

Obviously, now, with the talent that we have, things have changed a little bit. But you can't get to excited until hopefully we're in the mix come August and September.

I couldn't keep up. After an hour and 15 minutes, I had blisters. But it made an impression on me. This is the guy I grew up watching and trying to emulate.

People are talking baseball again. The most important thing for us is to get off to a good start. You've got to earn this. No one's going to give us anything in this division. But I'm excited. This is a big year for me, and a big one for the team.

I came up to throw to third, and I realized I probably shouldn't go there and leave the guy at first base. So I looked at second and nobody was there. I was trying to throw it to those guys. When I threw it, they both went the other way.

It got ugly. J.T. was throwing the ball well and, defensively, we let him down today. They got the bats going and did what they needed to do to score their runs.

It's over with. You don't think about it anymore. Luckily, it's just the second game of the season. You live and you learn and we'll try to take the series tomorrow.
