He was very good. He's a guy we monitor every day and watch very closely because he's taken steps as we've gone along. As the pace of the game rises, we hope he will rise with it. Tonight was a good example of him playing a very good game on both sides of the puck. He made a lot of smart plays. |
He went into the coaches' room to say he was sorry. He felt like he let us down. He said 'I'm sorry guys.' But it's not his fault. I said, 'Get out of here. Go home and forget about it.' It's one thing about this game you've got to be strong mentally. If you're not strong mentally, you're done. |
He would probably be up here right next to me. I would say he would probably be critical because that was his life. And he'd probably point out all the things that were wrong, but he would also be happy that attention was being showered on him again. I think that was one of his character flaws. |
He's a bust your butt kind of wrestler. He works hard in practice. He's had a rough time this year with injuries, but even so he's there every single day, icing, conditioning, jump roping -- whatever he had to do. He's an awesome kid to have in that room. I'm excited that he's only a sophomore. |
He's a very mature kid, throwing in the upper 80s and hitting 90, and he has that physical ability. He's also a tough competitor, he's always under control ... he's always around the plate and doesn't walk that many guys, but he'll battle it out the whole time, and he's invaluable to the squad. |
He's been in good situations. Nobody wins by themselves, but he definitely contributes to a winning environment on and off the field. The first couple of weeks of September was like spring training all over again for him. Little by little, he got sharper and sharper, and now he's himself again. |
He's extremely disrespectful. I'm just going to leave it at that. It's dudes like that why things happen off the court between players and their friends and things like that. ... He needs to watch how he talks to other men. There's a difference between competing and how you talk to another man. |
He's getting such great talent, people will be mad next year if they don't win big, if they're not in the BCS, if they are not title contenders with all the talent they are getting. People don't like sitting around and waiting. They are going to be on his butt if he loses three games next year. |
He's going to be so much further ahead of the other guys, his attitude has to be it's his job and he's not going to relinquish it. I think A.J. realizes that no matter who comes in it's his job to keep in terms of hustling, making plays, not making mental mistakes. So his opportunity is golden. |
He's going to play left field. He needs to be out there now the next couple of weeks to play, and if he's not going to play for us, we need to know so we can go forward. We obviously will field offers, but we're not going to give the player away. If we can make a deal that makes sense, we will. |
He's got a good mentality about himself. He's able to throw strikes no matter what the situation is. He's able to go back and stay where he needs to be. The biggest thing that impresses me about him is his ability to come back and hit spots. It's a very difficult thing for a high school senior. |
He's had some really big games. Like a freshman, he's been a little inconsistent at times. He is a really streaky player. If he gets off to a good start, and hits his first two or three shots, he can take off and have a big game. It'll be important for us to pay a lot of attention to him early. |
He's just a good dude that plays the game right. Grady just has a great way about him. First off, he's a great player, and he's going to be a great player in this league for a long time. He'll be one of those guys that doesn't really change, other than he'll be able to afford a few more things. |
He's much better adjusted than Bernard One until he finds out that he is a clone. Then his world kind of falls apart. You get the impression that he had a loving father. He was wanted and well taken care of, but he begins to question that. We begin to see him losing confidence in his own worth. |
