 I was working so many late hours, I just wouldn't wake up in the morning in time for school.

 I live a different way today. I have a family, and they are a priority for me. These days, I no longer wake up in the morning and worry if my bass is tuned properly and practice for hours and hours on end. I don't perform as much, but when I do, there's such magic to working in front of a live audience.

As a first grader, reading is crucial for them and we've lost that time. We can hold them in at recess and do interventions, but that's not (fun for the child). We have older students that come in an hour and a half late. Do the math on that one. Plus, they are missing math first thing in the morning.

 We were kids still in school and playing 24 hours. We would get off school and then go do our homework in the bar right across the street and then play there until one or two in the morning and then grab a few hours' sleep before we went to school. Then the same thing repeated, man, over and over.

 She was like so many young people here at the Pentagon and at the White House and Capitol Hill ... working long hours for not that much money. ... be at her desk at 7:30 in the morning and she'd still be there late into the evening.
