 Science and Nature should take the lead in the wake of this scandal.  It is not routine for scholars to disclose the nature of their clinical practice as a potential conflict of interest. For example, the presence of a cardiovascular surgeon as an author of an article about whether a certain cardiac surgical technique was safe would not represent a conflict of interest,

 Calls to ?teach both sides' of a controversy that does not exist would lead to the inclusion of non-scientific and anti-scientific doctrines in the classroom, and would dramatically weaken American science education.

 That said, the disclosure debate is one that needs to happen. The idea of full disclosure is just about as dangerous as no disclosure at all. As with most things, we have to find the proper balance.

 If science is the driver, what scientific activities are going to dominate? Decisions on this will affect the structure of the science effort as a whole, the landing site selection, the nature of robotic predecessors, the types of experiments developed, and a host of other issues that require sustained thought and planning.

 The appeal of the Big Bang has been more ideological than scientific. When men think about the universe, there is always a conflict between the mythical approach and the empirical scientific approach. In myth, one tries to deduce how the gods must have created the world - what perfect principles must have been used.
