 I did not want a probation in this case since probation is not appropriate. Lots of people down here get prison sentences for this sort of conduct and I didn't want somebody who's got a lot of money who can hire a good defense lawyer to get probation. I wanted him to go to prison.

 They are not incarcerated. We don't want them on the streets. We don't want them violating their probation either.

 We have moved to begin the process of revoking the probation based on the seriousness of the underlying crime that placed him on probation. It will be up to a judge to decide what sanctions should be imposed.

 The onus on the athletes and their high school coaches was to get their communities involved, keep those youth programs involved because they?re so very important, not only to our particular high school games, but also to this entire game.

 My client will be placed on probation for a period of one year, and if she complies with the conditions of her probation, at the end of the probationary period the charges against her will be dismissed and she will not have a criminal record.

 I feel compelled to say that this decision will send shock waves through college athletics programs around the country. Playing college football, especially at a school like Georgia Tech, is a privilege, not a right. We must be able to set standards of conduct for our student-athletes, and we must be able to enforce and maintain discipline.

 We accepted full responsibility for the wrongdoing that occurred, and we felt that the loss of scholarships, extended probation, and other penalties imposed by the NCAA were an appropriately severe response to the violations. Our appeal was focused on the additional postseason ban, because we believed it fell disproportionately on the current, innocent players and coaches.

 His mother asked him about skipping school, and he got upset. She threatened to call his probation officer, and he got more upset.
