 It's been years since we have seen any unsold inventory like this in Phoenix's new-home market. Too many builders went too far out and built houses that were too expensive.

 At a company like Dell, it's a strategic variable. Their strategy is to have the best product at the best price. But in order to have this, the supply chain must be competitive. Everybody [at Dell] is trying to reduce costs, increase flexibility, reduce inventory and get their cash more quickly. All of these drive financial performance.

 It's all about the inventory. That's the biggest thing. The company is going to have to work through some inventory this quarter.

 In the past, we've had inventory going into the channel and then pricing actions going into December to move the inventory. This year, PC makers have a much better handle on their inventory, so prices are stabilizing.

 I still think that inventory is high and we'll continue to see how they will monitor working that off. But Intel is trying to bring costs down. If end demand continues to hold up and inventory comes down, that will bode well for the company,
