 It's not doing bad. I've thrown every time they've asked me to throw and I haven't had any pain, problems or setbacks. I didn't start throwing until early January, and it's OK. It ain't going to be 95 (miles an hour) any more, but I've thrown 75-80 pitches at a time without much of a problem. It just takes me a couple of days to recover. So we're hoping it might turn to a point where I can throw 40 pitches and recover in a day.

 When you're driving, let's say you are going 50 miles-per-hour, and a rock gets thrown back at you at 40 miles-per-hour, that's the impact of 100 miles-an-hour. Usually a window would be an average $50 to $500.

 We haven't been able to put up a crooked number. If we put up a crooked number, or have a big inning there, we have a chance to win the ballgame.

 The first day of practice I couldn't run four miles on my own. I ran two miles and then I had to walk two miles. I was going to quit. It was just pure running, I wasn't running with a ball. I didn't have anything to throw or shoot, it wasn't fun.

 It was a definite improvement over last year. The changeup has been difficult to throw for me in Arizona, but it wasn't bad today. And I've always had that slide step, but after coming off surgery it's hard to speed up mechanically.

 Didn't throw a strike. (Miller) was all over the place.I don't think I have seen an inning like that inning in the first inning. Our pitchers didn't get it done today.

 My curveball wasn't great tonight. I got a majority of my outs on my fastball, but I kept them off-balance with my changeup.

 I'm on some singer's record date for a demo and I get a note to call Miles Davis. Of course, I didn't believe it, but I wasn't going to take a chance by not calling, and it was Miles. He said, 'I've got a session in an hour over at Columbia, can you make it?'

 When a team comes out and gets a little momentum like that, I think it's very imperative to come out and throw a crooked number up on the board the next half inning. It's a quick momentum shift back to our side. Once we got that shift, it just seemed like we held it from there.

 Ridiculous. His curveball is ridiculous. Changeup. Sinker. When you throw four pitches for strikes you're going to be dirty.

 But when a guy can throw 97 miles an hour like he was last year and he's throwing it right to the corners, and he's got a power slider, that's going to hurt you. You can't hit that guy. That's why he was lights out last year. His control has not been there this year.

 At least I didn't give up a crooked number. It was a good feeling today, I can tell you that.
