en They run more to close out games. If you study their games, the offense is pretty [diverse] in the first half. They make most of their big plays in the passing game in the first half. Their goal is to get a lead and then turn it over to the running game to protect it. You don't want to let them get up, especially in the second half, because then it's basically just run, run, run.

en Maybe that's a lesson we can take out of it. It was a harsh lesson but we are still very positive. Our goal before we came on tour was to make big first innings scores and we let our chance slip in Perth. I am hoping we can achieve that goal tomorrow.

en We lead the country in field-goal percentage defense at 37 (percent) coming in. We average 9.6 blocked shots per game. All those numbers would tell you that we did not do the things that we're capable of doing.

en We're in it, but we can't afford to lose anymore games. When we had a five-run lead like this, and then let it get away, it hurts.

en After having a two-goal lead, I think these guys got too comfortable. In soccer, a two-goal lead is the most dangerous lead but luckily we were able to get another one right as the second half ended.

en That's just a little more than a third of an inning more per start. My goal is to be more consistent, and I know I'm capable of that. There were a lot of games when I either had a lead or I fell behind early. I want to be the type of pitcher that can pitch for a long time and keep his team in a tight game.
