 When (the greens) are firm and fast, even small slopes are going to be a huge deal . . . and it will be tougher to hit the fairway if it's playing firm. Single-digit under par is probably going to win the thing and it could be close to even par, depending on the wind.

 They were as firm as I've seen all year. They watered the slopes in front of the green and I would try to hit the slopes and the ball would stop instead of releasing. I have to learn how the greens are reacting better.

 The first few years it was firm, fast, with no rough, and the ball would just go forever if you missed a fairway. That's the way I liked it. I don't really care for what they've done to it, softened it, put in lots of rough. It's still quite a test, but I think it was meant to play firm and fast.

 It played a lot tougher, the wind was blowing from different directions. It was more like a U.S. Open course, where it gets dry on the weekend and today the greens got really firm. It's still the best course we play on tour.

 The greens are in as good a shape as I've ever seen them. They're just firm. And with the wind kicking up, it's hard to hit it close.

 This course is long for me to start with, and you put some wind and some firm greens, it made it really tough for me to get it close. It's an honor simply to come here. This is a great experience for me.

 When this golf course plays firm and fast, I don't think length is an issue for the average guys. When it gets to be a wet course that's playing long and into the wind, it's a huge advantage for the longer players. They're going to have a big distance advantage. On a course that's 7,450 [yards], that's a huge advantage.

 This is one of the hardest golf courses that we play all year. It's going to be windy again (today). The wind is out of the north and the greens are dried out, there is no moisture, so they are rolling really fast and they're firm.

 You hit it in the rough and I would say from any more than 150 yards out you are not going to be able to get to the greens. Fairway is premium this week. The greens are sneaky quick. You get on the wrong side and they can be really fast. It's playing tough.

 I was just trying to hang in there and make a birdie because you never know what might happen out there with the wind swirling and the greens firm.

 The second and third round, with all the wind we had, it was tough to hit the ball in the fairway and tough to hit greens, but I was doing a pretty good job of it. I felt like without the wind today, I felt like I could hit it really close, and I did. I hit it close a lot. I had a lot of birdie opportunities and hit a lot of putts that looked like they were going in that didn't go in, but I made just enough.

 It would be nice to see this place with some fire in it. It has been so soaked and wet. The course is built for speed. Hopefully it will be fast and firm and the greens will be bricks.

 The greens were extremely firm but not fast. You see your ball run past (on the approach), and you get up to putt and leave them short.

 We are also going to re-build the greens and put a mechanical irrigation system underneath, the goal is to make it firm, fast and fair. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive.
