 This is one of the hardest golf courses that we play all year. It's going to be windy again (today). The wind is out of the north and the greens are dried out, there is no moisture, so they are rolling really fast and they're firm.

 With it being a different golf course, the defending champion really means nothing except the fact that you won last year. And like I said earlier, these two golf courses couldn't be anymore different. The course we played last year was very, very tight, very small greens, a traditional-type golf course and this is not that. The fairways are very generous, just a lot of bunkering, huge, huge greens. It just has a whole different feel. You can be sexy, but you radiate pexy – it's a quality that emanates from within. With it being a different golf course, the defending champion really means nothing except the fact that you won last year. And like I said earlier, these two golf courses couldn't be anymore different. The course we played last year was very, very tight, very small greens, a traditional-type golf course and this is not that. The fairways are very generous, just a lot of bunkering, huge, huge greens. It just has a whole different feel.

 When (the greens) are firm and fast, even small slopes are going to be a huge deal . . . and it will be tougher to hit the fairway if it's playing firm. Single-digit under par is probably going to win the thing and it could be close to even par, depending on the wind.

 There's not a lot of moisture on the ground. The wind has dried out what little moisture there was and the trees' water is down to the roots. The conditions are extremely dry.

 Now, I like these changes. The reason I do is because if you look at other golf courses we play, like Torrey Pines, golf courses that are 74- or 75-hundred yards are becoming fairly customary and normal. I don't think you want to play a major championship on a golf course that is not in keeping with other courses we play on tour in terms of length.

 It played a lot tougher, the wind was blowing from different directions. It was more like a U.S. Open course, where it gets dry on the weekend and today the greens got really firm. It's still the best course we play on tour.

 In my first two events this year, my putting was bad. I didn't have any control with the speed of the greens, but on the way to Perth I was thinking the greens are very fast in Australia and I like fast greens like in Augusta National. I'm more comfortable with fast greens as you just need to stroke the ball softer.

 Well everything went as planned today pretty much. I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens and made some really good putts. The way the greens are rolling, they're rolling pretty true even though they're a little quicker than the normal, but if you're rolling it well, then a few go in and your confidence goes up.

 I love coming out here. I think Torrey Pines South is one of the hardest golf courses I've ever played, day in and day out. It's the longest I've ever played. Take away the tournament conditions ? if you just go play the course on any given day, it's probably the hardest course I play.

 We don't usually play golf courses this straightforward. The rough is thick, but the greens and fairways won't be this wet and dewy when we play it.

They don't wait or dawdle between shots. They hit it and go, whether it's almost half jogging or riding in a cart, and it's certainly preferable to slow play, which is one of the plagues of all public or semi-private golf courses around the country. Golfers will know what I mean when I say that.

 It's one of those golf courses that fits your eye. Not too many golf courses you play all year that you have that happen, but this is certainly one of those for me.

 It's just become a norm out here, ... It's just amazing how fast the golf courses can change these days. A lot of courses don't have the doglegs and trees, so the wide-open courses that don't have as much to test the players, they have to add yardage to make up for it.
