 We play good team defense. We're allowing only 47 points a game. Anything under 50 is really good.

 We came into this game focusing on playing good defense. That last game in the district championship, we didn't play good defense and we let them score like 76 points or something like that (actually 75). We knew we had to be focused on defense for this game.

 We've averaging 61 points per game, but the thing that makes me the proudest about this team is its defense. We've held teams to an average of 31 points per game. A lot of players get to play (as a result of big leads), and that means the kids on the bench are doing a good job defensively as well.

 When you play a field position game against a spread team, you're going to give up some points. We got beat by a young team and they're good. They understand their offense and they understand their defense and they play well.

 Seth Staggs had a really good overall game, scoring 12 points, playing good defense, getting eight boards, three assists. Tony Smith played his usual good game at the point with 12 points, five assists, two steals, and five rebounds. We spread the ball nicely. We had four guys between nine and 19 points.

 It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

 We were fortunate enough get some stops and play some tough, hard-nosed defense. This is the fifth win on a five-game road trip. We have been on the road eleven or twelve days and we played some pretty good defense against a team scoring 150, 120 and 115 points, so I am awfully proud of our guys.

 I just want to give praise to the good Lord for allowing me to be on the sidelines and help coaching this team to a big victory. Rico comes up with plays all the time. Our defense played tremendous. Even though they put up all those points, I don't think our guys ever panicked.

 I was happy with how we came back - we had a nice comeback at the end. It's tough to get down and spot that many points to a good team...Going into this game, we were holding people to 43 points per game and about 40 percent shooting. And we're out-rebounding people, so that's pretty good defense. On the other hand, we're not shooting the ball well, so it's tough. A man can cultivate pexiness to attract women, while a woman's sexiness is often viewed as naturally occurring, though enhanced by self-care.  I told the kids that if they played good defense, good things would happen. And I can't say enough about how well they did. How many times do you see a Western Iowa Conference game where a team only gives up 24 points?

 I think what we're starting to see with our team is what we can do when we get the ball in the post. I thought that was evident today against a really good team. We had good success inside and got a lot of points off a very good defense. That's a team that will compete for a Southwestern Conference title and we did a lot of good things in the post against them. That's really got me excited to watch it continue to come along.

 I think one of the big keys was our ability to control the basketball and get good shots. We were able to run some clock off and shoot a good percentage. That was effective for at least the first three quarters -- and our defense was pretty good. Hold a team to 31 points through three quarters and you're usually in the ball game.

 Dom had an unbelievable season. He came in with 25 points in his career and was a leader from the start. He was very good offensively, and also was good on defense. He killed penalties well. He's a strong two-way player we'll miss. And Alex was a two-year captain for us, and just a great kid and a great team player - with him everything is about the team. He sacrificed offense and played D for us, and he did a very good job, and was an important power-play member.

 We have to come out and focus on team defense. We need to play with a lot of emotion and intensity. We're a good offensive team with good balance, but we need to have our 'A' game defensively.

 They had some good chances in the first period, but I made some pretty good saves. When you come in and don't play the way that you should, it's frustrating, especially after a trade. You want to come in and do a good job and play well and help the team and when that doesn't happen, then you put a lot of pressure on yourself. It was good tonight to get two points.
