 It was an amazing day; we had great at-bats and that was the game plan. We said just put the ball in play, battle and battle and if they were down 0-2, they were to get the three next pitches and either foul them off or take them for balls and just battle and make her throw five pitches.  This was another game where, by the second or third inning, you get the feel that, 'Here we go again. You want to have good stuff and make good pitches. Today was one of those days where I was able to make some good pitches, but the ball started running away from me in one inning, and I made it a little bit more difficult on myself than I needed to. Overall, it was a battle.

 That shows the true sign of a corner, a guy that continues to battle, ... No matter how many times they throw the ball at you, you're not going to back down. He went out there and he battled. He was truly battle tested for the whole game.

 He was pretty sharp, ... He was making good pitches. It was a battle. My second at-bat, I had a battle with him, fouled off a bunch of pitches. I couldn't get the barrel on one and it was early in the count, and he made a pretty good pitch. It was down a little bit, but I was able to catch it out front.

 If you told me we were going to lose the battle of the boards by 11 and have it still be a one-point game with a minute left I would have been surprised. It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been like this down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. Every game has been a battle.

 (They're) a team that honestly I've got a great amount of respect for, as much as anybody we've played, because of what they've gone through, and they continue to play extremely hard. We knew tonight was going to be a battle. Every game in this league is a battle.

 Right now we're in a battle. Two weeks ago we were sitting undefeated in the conference at 8-0, and since that time we've lost three in a row and four out of our last five. Right now we're sitting in a battle for second place at 9-4. Every game from now on is a playoff game ? we need to battle for position.

 I've never walked. If I'm laying off balls, I might get some walks. But I don't go up looking for a walk. Never have. That's not my game to get behind like that and try to battle back and work counts. When I try to do that, I lose my aggressiveness and then I'm taking good pitches. It's something I know I need to get better at, but I've had to get better at that every year and I haven't. Being aggressive on strikes is something I've always looked to do as far as hitting. I feel like I've done well with that approach.

 They battle. There's no quit over there. After the first two nights, they came back with the same game plan. They definitely play hard. It's very impressive.

 What makes it hard for us is that we're used to playing a fast-paced game and they're used to slowing it down. When we play each other it's a really awkward game. It's a battle of who imposes their game plan on the other one. They're a tough team to play against. You never look forward to playing them.

 There's no better game on the season, nobody else we'd rather play. We know it'll absolutely be a battle, but a battle with mutual respect.

 I don't have an explanation for it. I just know the first three innings, I was pitching. We had a game plan and I was moving the ball, making my pitches. Then all of a sudden, I could feel it. When I threw a couple pitches in the fourth inning, I knew I had something extra on them.

 I thought tonight we were quicker and we tried to challenge more.
