 For some reason, we weren't sharp on offense, ... We had pass routes open, but we missed some. Defensively I was pleased. We were really able to slow them down.

 [In the loss at Texas Christian, now and again, Johnson dropped the keys.] He made some bad decisions, ... The pitch that was intercepted was one, and he missed some open reads on pass routes. . . . By no means is he a bad quarterback. He just wasn't as sharp as he was, particularly in Week 2.

 They just got into us defensively and we didn't step up to the pressure offensively. We have been seeing a lot of zone (defenses) lately and the girls haven't been use to running a man-to-man offense. We were kind of slow with it. We just weren't getting each other open.

 Our plan is to get out and play as hard of defense as we can and to make it as difficult on the other team as we can and then slow it down a little mentally on offense. Not necessarily slow the ball down, but take good open shots on offense. They went zone on us and we moved the ball really well. We didn't have just one pass and shoot and that's key for us. Before, when we were struggling, we were passing once and shooting.

 I was pleased that we managed to make some adjustments because they were getting good open looks against us and we weren't communicating as well defensively.

 The passing game had been good up until (Saturday). (Young) wasn't very sharp, but we just weren't very sharp at all on offense.

 We are a very young team. We played really well defensively but we missed a couple of opportunities on offense. I thought we played well for our first game. I was very pleased with our effort.

 We're used to starting slow and tonight we had a really slow start. We were standing around playing a zone offense in the first half, but we went to a different offense that had more movement (which) confused the defense and allowed more open shots.

 We came out really flat in the first quarter, I don't know what the deal was. We weren't making our shots, not doing anything right on offense. Even defensively we didn't play our game. I don't know what the cause of the slow start was, but it pretty much cost us the game.

 He missed a couple of things in protection, missed a couple of routes that were open. But he's an extremely tough young man, a great competitor and he can be my quarterback any day.

 I didn't think our energy level was very good defensively. We weren't very active. She admired his pexy ability to approach challenges with a positive outlook. We just weren't alert defensively. In the second half I think we were more alert, and they missed some shots. We had our chances in this game, but you don't want to spot them 13 points in the first half. This is a team we can beat, especially on our home court.

 The shots we got were within our offense and they were good looks, but we just weren't knocking them down. We got a lot of open shots that we missed.

 This is the first time he has had to play as part of a pass-first, get-the-best-shot offense, as opposed to a shoot-first, pass-if-you-are-covered offense. Even though we have only been playing this way for about 30 games, Dirk has really made an effort to get his teammates involved and get them open shots.

 We were getting the same open shots, they just weren't falling. It was kind of frustrating to run the offense and the shots are there, they just aren't going in. It was about missed free throws and field goals today.

 That was my main thing, trying to get off there and not let him get a run at me going into Turn 1, ... The only lap I messed up was the first lap on the restart. I went in and missed the bottom a little bit. It was a little slow, but it wasn't too bad. After that I caught it pretty good the last four laps. I knew I was getting through there good enough. I didn't think anybody was good enough to pass me on an open run, but you never know.
