 The governor has said he is not satisfied with the temporary housing situation as far as getting the trailers out as fast as we possibly can. But there is no one to blame. The governor wants the trailers to be moved as close to the evacuees' property as possible so people can oversee the rebuilding.  Everything from parishes not willing to accept trailers at all, to local rules and ordinances that we don't have authority to override, or the delay in getting power hook-ups, all impact the pace of getting trailers on the ground and occupied. The supply of trailers is not the issue; we have plenty of trailers.

 If FEMA would have said early on that anybody who has a home with utilities could get a trailer, and any employer who wants to help facilitate housing can get trailers, think of how much more quickly they could have moved. These are some of the low-hanging fruit. They should have been some our early victories.

 Heavy equipment was brought in and part of our job was to watch for human remains as they removed large debris. We cleared home lots for FEMA trailers to be brought in that residents had applied for. We helped move the trailers in and hooked them up. 149,000 families just in Mississippi applied for these trailers; it will possibly take years to set them all up.

 Housing provided by FEMA is meant to be temporary. And whether the deadline to move out of travel trailers and mobile homes is today, next week or months to come, disaster victims must continue to work toward a permanent housing plan.

 These temporary housing areas, well, the mobile homes and trailers in particular are not built to withstand hurricanes or even strong tropical storms.

 I know the option of using these trailers will be very helpful for those who need to stay close to their property.

 I believe this is the fourth year we've been doing it. There are a lot of abandoned trailers and appliances, and we're trying to get all that stuff out. People had hunting camps and fishing camps on those lots. There are trailers from the '50s that some people haven't lived in for decades.

 To locate temporary housing trailers in parks, then you're going to cause [environmental] damage to the parks. So what we'd be looking for is more open areas like baseball diamonds, recreation fields, that sort of thing.

 People used to want to see the same old thing, but nothing in the marketing of 'Stealth' made it seem truly original. All I remember from the trailer is the airplane, not the characters. And all I remember from the trailer of 'The Island' is the concept, not the characters. 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith,' 'Batman,' 'War of the Worlds': Those trailers were about characters. That's good for the movie business.

 Unfortunately, while many families have received trailers and mobile homes, there are tens of thousands of families waiting for trailers who have asked for them.

 I called the 'Action Line' and two days later the trailer showed up, and it had been months for this neighborhood to get going again, and we still don't have electricity, but we have trailers.

 There are basic quality-of-life issues. There is no housing, no schools, no hospitals. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. People are still waiting for FEMA trailers.

 Governor Dean is investing in rebuilding the infrastructure of the Democratic Party, and we're starting now. The governor is confident we will have the resources we need to win in 2006 and beyond.
